Marians: Sons of Mars

Well then, all orders locked pending update.

Anybody have a clue where the heck Arakhor and bestrfc are?

Pre-Update Announcements:

The Wienetian Empire is now an NPC. However, their full NPC functions shan't begin until next turn. They are hereby free to be taken over by any aspiring players who'd like a challenge.

Wars!

While Omega didn't give specific orders, I'm sure he wants me to make sure his forces pound those Tejanos into the ground. So let's get to it!

The max roll is 25.

Deseret gets a solid roll - 21. Add + .7 to get 21.7. Add +8% and they get a powerful roll of 23.4!

The rebels roll 23. They are narrowly defeated, but Texas is now returned to the grasp of Deseret.

India has two rebels to take care of and only one army. Could the Mughals reach an early end?

India attacks, rolling a humble 4. This becomes 4.6, with +8%, to 4.97.

The rebels smash India's teeth in with a roll of 19!

Fortunately, India has a defensive army left. They decide to let it stay put and protect the border. They'll also have an advantage on the defensive.

The rebels take the bait, striking with one force. They roll a 1, losing by default. Apparently the Indian subcontinent's forces are all crappy regardless of allegiance. /bias

Anyway! The rebels retain one more force, due to having risen up from 2 provinces. They roll a solid 18. India rolls an 11. They lose, losing a province to the rebels. India's income will be depressed come next turn, from the loss of three territories.

India has a net loss of one province. They retain 17 others, but will they risk it all against the rebels? Or will they make concessions before it is too late? Only time will tell.

24 Hours isn't going to cut it. These updates are way too fast (Which is why I dropped out of your IOT). Can't it be 48? Or atleast 36? 1 Day just isn't fair if your going to be busy.

Update 4

Announcements

Several minor powers have joined the fray:

-Siam
-Astrakhan
-Hedjaz
-France
-Sweden
-Great Lakes Confederacy
-Greater Zanzibar
-Kamchatka

These NPCs have joined with 4 provinces, rather than 5.

Incidents

India's Pakistani nationalist revolt continues unabated. The Indian government is committed to fight, however.

Texas' brief independence movement was throttled by the Deseret Bull's horns.

There has been a revolt in southern Sumatra against Singaporean rule.

Events

Na-Na-Nine has experienced a great recession, and so will only collect 24 income rather than 27.

Think it's time we make things a little more interesting...

Announcements:

A new faith, Hinduism, has been founded in Carthage. While it is already splitting into multiple branches, all of them focus on several common themes, such as a belief that everything is part of the same force and is destined to reunite with this force. It is believed that all paths lead to this salvation and reunification eventually, and so there are no heathen faiths, at least in popular belief.

Carthage will now collect income for every non-Carthaginian province that turns Hindu.

Clarification: Religions in provinces have been crafted yet again, but this time, revolt risk is not affected. Instead, it serves merely to determine how much gold you glean from the provinces. Example: if you're religion x and there's two religion x provinces outside your empire(and you hold the holy city, of course), you will gain 2 gold per turn from them.

Switching to a new faith, however, DOES have consequences. If you have non-faith provinces in your empire, they gain a one-time RR of 20%(this is added in turn to your current RR!), calculated separately per province. Therefore, you don't want to change faiths until most provinces have converted anyway. This deters people who would try to use religion as an excuse for war 24/7.

Provinces convert independently by event. This has no effect on gameplay apart from if you want to change state religion.

When you convert, your capital(or a random province if you haven't selected one) switches to the new state faith.

States that can convert to Hinduism:

Iberia
East Rome
France
Germany
Wienetia
Egypt
Albion

By popular request, I will now try to time updates every 36 hours instead of 24 to give more time to players. If you're all fine with the slow pace at the start, well then, I should be too. :)

Iberia

We invest 11 into Diplo I, yielding us this new technology!
10 goes into Civics 3(costing 33 due to closeminded penalties).
4 goes into the treasury.

Iberia colonises the Balearics, netting us +2% RR.

Albion colonizes the Welsh countryside, bringing the island under one banner.

The town of Inbhir Nis(Inverness) has become the definite capital of the Albioners.

The Albioners eye Ireland as well as the Faroes and other islands near Scotland, along with the area of Normandy that the French are uncomfortably close to.

We set our researchers upon Civics 2(or 1, if we don't have 1 yet)

Hinduism has spread to the Southern Thames territory, though the government does not make it the state religion, it is accepted among the land.

Hinduism has to spread by GM-created event, as with all faiths. ;)

My stats aren't correct.

The only thing that is incorrect is your current research and morale; I've fixed that on my copy. Deseret has a net income of 16 and no current research.

---

Let's see how everyone's doing as of the last update:

Formula for Power:

[1/4 (Treasury + Net income)] + (Land morale * number of armies) + (value of tech)

Stats as of the end of Update 3

Amazon (7.75) + (-0.2) + (60) = 67.55
Rome (8.5) + (0.7) + (50) = 59.2
Iberia (7.5) + (0.6) + (50) = 58.1
India (6.3) + (1.2) + (50) = 57.5
Austronesia (6.5) + (-0.2) + (50) = 56.3
Na-Na-Nine (7.75) + (0.6) + (40) = 48.35
Nubia (8.25) + (0.1) + (40) = 48.35
Deseret (6.1) + (1.4) + (40) = 47.5
Singapore (7.5) + (-0.1) + (40) = 47.4
Japan (5) + (-1.2) + (40) = 43.8
Zululand (5.5) + (2) + (30) = 37.5
Caribbean (4) + (-0.5) + (30) = 33.5
Canada (12) + (-0.6) + (10) = 21.4
Wienetia (10) + (0.7) + (10) = 20.7
Germany (11) + (-0.6) + (10) = 20.4

Amazon is 12% more powerful than their biggest competitor, but to unlock a "balance of power" casus belli against them, they must reach 25%.

Come next update, Canada and Germany will be put on autopilot

I shall not convert to Hinduism and Send my free army to the rebel area and I make a legion and send it to rebel province, invest 16 into tech

these npc's are annoying.. why are you putting them all around me.. noone else is suffering so many!

these npc's are annoying.. why are you putting them all around me.. noone else is suffering so many!

Two reasons why you seem to be suffering from more NPCs:

1. You're in Asia, which has the most land and thus is the most likely to get NPCs.
2. You straddle the continent. You're naturally going to encounter a lot of neighbors. :p
