Master Map Change Thread

Marsh to Europe. You mean near Belarus?
Tea should have already been included in Morocco and Anatolia.
I haven't played your edits yet, but it sounds like you started from a version of my map edits from a long time ago?

Making the 600AD map a 500AD map sounds very good.

Yes, I mean the Belarus. The tea exists, the problem is quite the opposite, it should spawn and not be there form the ancient times. I included all the changes done by the time I released it.

I apologize for his unintentional bastardization of your homeland's name

We got all those? :p

I think the map is great, but...Rostov. It's the biggest Russian port over the Black Sea, but it have not access to the sea in the map. I think, just like you did with Quebec, that the tile one south (maybe south-west) its spot should be a coast tile.

I wonder is there any possible way (by altering resources or tiles) so we can have both Kyoutou, Edo (Toukyo) and Oosaka in-game? Oosaka is a very important city in Japan history, and it exceed Nagasaki or Kagoshima or any other.

The spot is available there, but being too close to Kyoto, it's not optimal.

It's hard to map the Crimean region in Civ4 squares, but Rostov is actually situated one SW.

No, on tile situated 1 SW there's Sverdlovsk (different from that one in the Urals).
I'd just erase this tile where Sverdlovsk is in order to give a necessary access to the Black Sea. IMO, two tiles are sufficient to represent Crimean region.

Then that's a problem with the name map, not with the location. Check a real map, Rostov actually borders that one-tile lake.

I couldn't take a picture for some strange reason in JPG form, so I'm attaching the World Builder Save where I made my India changes. I'd like comments on this.

Yes this is the map. When I took the pictures in World Builder it came in .tga form strangely enough. Anyways, this is only my first attempt at the map. There were a couple of mistakes made by me, firstly that rice resource in Bengal sits on a floodplain, that was not my intention as I wanted the rice to be farmed early on. Secondly the floodplain near the Thar was an oversight on my part, that would be desert. I stand by the extra tiles India receives, as it stands, India is not big enough to handle three civs and the mega armies of the Europeans. There are no 'peaks' in North East India and the Eastern Himalayas are generally shorter than the Western Himalayas. Furthermore, india and China have fought wars around Ladakh since the Sikh empire's time when they invaded Western Tibet. I decided to replicate the possibility of Indo-Chinese wars around Ladakh by making mountain passes over there.

Gujarat is the centre of Indian dairy industry, hence the Cows. Now ideally it should be a spawn resource rather than one from the start, but I don't know how that's done so I kept the dairy as it is. The Extra gold was a mistake too, and I do not intend to keep the iron near Varanasi. There are only two major iron producing centres in India, one is in Orissa and the other is in Gujarat. The coal is spread around the Chota Nagpur plateau. Southern India is hilly representing the Western Ghats and the Deccan plateau. Besides it helps Southern India with extra hammers. I gave 'Punj'Ab' Five rivers :) . besides this makes Takshashila better defended. SriNagar can be settled in this map as well and gives the player saffron. Now the other change I forgot to make was the fish resource near Gujarat which should be present, as the western coast around Maharashtra had prolific fishing before the cities came up around the coast. Raigarh district for instance grew prosperous on trading and sustained itself through fishing. Fish should be present there from the start, in addition to the fish and corn which spawns later.

Ahh, finally Punjab has its Punj Abs! Finally the region can live up to its name.

I've made some more changes to the above map to make it more correct. I'm going through sugar producing regions of india. Maharashtra definitely is one of them but mostly its Uttar Pradesh. I'm not sure if Punjab has sugar production so that's something I'll check up.

On a different note, banannas aren't the only tropical fruit, so whenever I see banana resource anywhere I interpret it as tropic fruit. That way there should be a banana in Kerala and Bengal. If that is not the case, then a generic tropical fruit resource should be included. Otherwise there would be too many resources to fit into this one map :P .

There should be river and uranium and one coal next to Calcutta. Two coal is German level production. There are no Leoreths in Calcutta.

Please look at the changes I made in India and merge them with yours.

Can you link your map here ? I need to look at it again. Thing about two coals in Calcutta is, it represents Asansol *( one to the east ) and Jharkhand mines *( one to the west ) . I would honestly prefer india to be more productive than what it is now. Still show me your map. :)

I have no picture of it. Ask Citis, since he still has the changes. I lost all mine with all the SVN changes

Ok I will ask him. I think the Uranium near Calcutta you're talking about is the recently discovered deposits of uranium in Meghalaya right ? I did place Uranium near Kerala. In truth the beaches of kerala are rich with Thorium, so it should be on the coast or on the sea somehow, but that isn't possible so the next best thing would be to replace that Aluminum with Uranium.

Download the rar file in the download link in my signature. There are three maps. You can open them via worldbuilder (easy way) or via text editor (hard way).

If you want to edit it via worldbuilder make sure to play as the first civ available and open it ASAP. Then you should make a special merge with the original one to be playable.

I would propose to you to edit it through a text editor. It will be harder, but it will be ready to play.

Make sure that all changes apply to all three maps.

When you add/remove a resource note this: Is it dynamic or static? If it is static everything's fine. Else, you should edit the resources.py and code it to appear the right moment.
