Medieval European Mod II 2016-10-05

Just started playing and all I can say is wow! I have waited a long time to see such a mod come out.

Small question: I started playing with the Byzantine and I noticed you start with a princess on top of a victory location. So basicaly, I can rescue my princess by turn 5 when i build my first unit. Is it normal or did I just screwed up the options in the menu? Is this game supposed to be played with princess?

It seems you have checked "Trade Victory" (renamed CTF), just turn it off. As the comment in parentheses says, it's for (future) scenarios only. And sorry, I guess it's misleading, I should have probably left as it was until scenario version.

It checks out fine. May I ask why you thought us so worthy as to award us with proper full discriptions of even singel thing in the game ! Even down to the units and Im not talkin generic discipts tailered to fit for every flavour of sword, infantry, pike, etc. These entrys are all custum fit!!. Its unparrelled!!. This should be taught in the classrooms This is sensational. Im leaving you guys in my last testament.

Oh but If you want something now, a few missing entrys in the tech dept is all I could find: Navel tactics, New World and of course all the "Traditon techs" Sorry thats all. :goodjob:

Thanks :) We had to edit it for pedia purposes, but most credit goes to Wikipedia.org ;) Indeed we missed 2 techs, but the "Tradition" techs don't really need descriptions I think... (hey, they're not even visible in the tech tree).

Tech tree?..Hey you told me to check the pedia ;) Wiki is awesome but IM still surprised you found units their own entry and condensed it all so nicly for the rest of em.
What May be the best visual improvement is the worn looking cross stitched backround you weaved for the pedia. It makes the links show up nice and just emmerses far better then the standard version.

Sure Ive said enough but this is one of most immaculate peices of work ever accomplished. I mean, Who can deny ? I wish I could shake you hand, both of you. You may think Im layin it on to thick but right now 73 (an counting) others from around the earth are all thinking the same. I just wanted you guys to know what youve done for this sport we can't thank you enough :hatsoff:

Yeah, sorry about alarming you guys, I played today without any difficulties, it seems my computer had some strange hickups!

PS - totally OT, but I just have to say this, its so funny :)
I was playing Civ and one of my friends stopped by, so I kept playing with one hand and one eye on the screen, while talking to her and then she said "whats with all the skulls and vultures on your screen?". I said: "Oh, its just a plague". And she said: "My brother has a computer-freak friend, he could probably get you a good anti-virus program or something to fix that." She was serious. :crazyeye:

--updated Fri-April 26-07--

Congrats on spreadn your 200th copy somewhere around the earth!!

Hello,

Just downloaded the mod and it looks amazing - beautiful map, graphics, tech tree looks rich, 31 civs, 540 turns, lots of units, buildings, wonders and over good feeling of reality with the #culture groups, religion, etc... lots of customization was put in, even the pedia is complete.

I have just started a game as Armenia. One comment: culture group is "middle-eastern" which gives Armenia a very islamic feel which should not be. How about switching them to the Byzantine/Balkan group? it is not ideal but would render better the constant opposition Armenians faced vs all their moslem neighbours.

Again thanks a lot!

Thanks for all the comments.

St Exupere, you're right, Byzantine culture seems closer to Armenia than Middle-Eastern. They're of course fully Christian but the church looking like a mosque is disturbing. Not sure what to do with the units still (they're currently a mix between Eastern- and European-looking).

:hmm: Make some (4,623) units? :)

:( Can anyone else sweep through the pedia and see if you encounter any problems?

@ ED - I putzed around in the pedia and didn't get any FATAL ERROR!s, but there's a script error in the Hierocracy entry under war weariness. And is the Hussite supposed to have no pedia icon? It comes up as a question mark.

Also, has anyone made a medieval or ancient pedia icon for Build Colony? It doesn't seem right to have oil drums and a crane for this and other mods.

This wasn't included in the first place? I guess me and ED have to build more colonies. You can be pretty sure it will be replaced in any updated version.

Thanks rifleman,
Colony icon will be added and the link in Hierocracy fixed. As far as the Hussite goes, it's an AoK conversion, so it didn't have icons, I've only made the small one out of the flic. The conversion is not so fitting and it'd be best to eventually replace this unit with a real Hussite Handgunner with a pavise or better, a war wagon unit.

Looks great guys! Being the cautious type I'll wait to play this till after you guys patch a bit more...but it looks great already!! I often get so bored after ancient times and middle ages, but this mod gets around this and makes Civ so much more historically accurate. Thanks a million for all the blood, sweat and tears you guys must've put into this!
Jetha.

I will have to get the kids grades in early and get home ASAP to try this baby out!

There are no bugs that will crash the game. We spend 3-4 months testing it, and we're both experienced modders. I am 99.9% sure we got all the (few) bugs that appeared. There might be a few graphic glitches some places (like the one mentioned earlier), but they are very rare.

What about balancing?

Well, what about it? As YP has said, there are currently no known bugs; there are also no outstanding "balance" issues that would make one civ overpowered or something. We're hungry for player input and will be updating the mod further - there's a lot things you can fine-tune and a lot of new features to think of. But hey, there's no reason for you not to play just because a patch wasn't released. It may be just not needed yet :p

Yeah this isn't Windows Vista or anything. We are much more reliable than Microsoft. ;)

(I just had to post that cheap joke)

Those stoopid FATAL ERRORS!* (doesn`t it just freak you out when a machine says something like that in the 21st century? Terminator, anyone?) are just some viral infection my old rustbucked picked up, sorry I alarmed everyone :)

*FATAL ERROR! NOW YOU DIE, FLESH-BOT! TEH 3VIL COMPUTER WILL SUCK UR BRAINZ OUT! AND IT WILL USE AN USB CABLE SO IT HURTS MORE! BWAHAHAH!¨* :crazyeye:
