Hello everyone!

I just want to thank ED and YP for this awesome mod. Being a long time Civ2 historical scenarios fan I got bored with C3C after a month or so. No events in scenarios -- no fan . Simple as that. Just kills all the joy and I am not sure why Fraxis decided to abandon events. Culture and sacrificial blood were two of the few good concepts, but than again there is an outstanding Civ2 mod Sacrificial Blood...

On top of that, compared with Civ2 classics, like Harlan's Mongols or Nemo's RF -- not that many good C3C scenarios either. Twilight of Byzantium was the first thing I enjoyed -- finally there was an Armenian civ (named Cilicians). But what can I do with 3 cities against bloodthirsty Mameluks? I love historical reality but I hate to loose . I needed a mod with my dear Armenia, so I searched this forum for "Armenia" and I found this mod. Waw! Ashot I with the khachkar (cross-stone) on the background! Two flavour units and a GW! Nice, nice, nice CivPedia!

All I do since than is reading the Pedia and fighting against arabs and turks all around me, even though I never start wars first. Leo III has just born in Cilicia when Elite Cilician Knight was fighting turks! How close to historical reality this can get? AI placed Alexandria where Alexandria is supposed to be, same happened with Smirna and Damascus! Rus destroyed Khazars in 996 and I saved the screen-shot, because in the real life it happened in 969 AD. Tatars destroyed Rus, but Novgorod still alive! Germany won a race for Holy Roman Empire! Constantinople won a race for Hagia Sophia (well, in most of my games). And turks declared the war on me in XI century, with a lot of devastation in my country, just like it was supposed to be.

I am just curious about the cultural and professional background of the modders. How do you guys learned so many facts about my small Armenia, going as far as citing primary sources in Pedia??? It's just astonishing! I will share few technical comments later, in this post I just want to thank you guys again for this Mod and for the innocent intelectual pleasure I am getting here!

I played without my my mass regicide to a Byzantine expedition at 1272 (regent). I will play Irish (or Moors or Abbasids) next but I need to ask about vassal Kingdoms. Do they remain effective after a change of Gov?

No. Most goverments have their own set of vassal kingdoms, which will only work with the required goverment. So you can't exploit the system.

Recently I have repeatedly tried to play the Fatimids (using 2 different discs) and the game keeps crashing at about the same time period even though the ongoing events are different. Any ideas about whats going on? ( I am not using mass regicide.)

I think I must have messed up in downloading the last patch because I have discovered other problems in the Mod since doing so. I am going to dump the whole Mod and reload it. Thanks for the help.

Beginning of 13th century, danes built the castle and city walls in Reval.. and of course there was also church (so i gave Reval in adition to harbour, also a castle, walls and temple,.. Town hall was built in 1280s, so i didn't give that to them). Also, i corrected the positioning of Reval, because it should be more west. That caused most Estonia fall under the Novgorod, so i had to place another village. And, because actually, at that time, in some ways even more important center was Tartu (german name Torpat) in south Estonia, that was under the rule of Teutons. Well yeah, under the rule of danes, Reval quickly rised as important port town. And Torpat has really difficult times competing with naighboring Pskov, which has higher culture and i hope as it was really the case, sends often their warbands to conquer that now already primitively fortified village/town.
So, if you guys want even more reality, download this new biq with these little changes.

When I attempt to load a scenario on my Mac, it claims that I'm missing building files in my icon folder or some such. Can anyone offer advice?

As far as I know people were able to run the mod on Macs, so I assume you installed it in the wrong folder. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully. The most common mistake is unzipping the files into a new folder so that your folder structure is Conquests/Scenarios/MEM/MEM ... It should be unzipped directly into Conquests/Scenarios, without any new folders.

Unzip means unpack. I'm pretty sure most Windows installations can unzip files by default, just click on the file, you should see a list of packed files and an option to unpack. If you don't have any zip program, you can get a free one here: http://www.7-zip.org/

What updates? Last patch was technically final and I'm pretty much retired. I'll think of an update though, when Sandris is done with medieval units lines

Thanks, I might include some of it some day... though you must know that the placement of improvements was based on gameplay first. If I followed history in this aspect, most cities on the map would be fully developed, with not much left to be built by the player.

The process is described under "Installation" in the first post. To re-iterate:

1. Download MEM 1.0 and unpack it into Conquests/Scenarios
2. Download MEM 1.2 and unpack it into Conquests/Scenarios

I believe the fact that the folder is called Conquests Game Data on Mac is irrelevant, at least with the 1.2 patch installed, which fixes folder paths for Mac users, among other things. You shouldn't touch the other folder.

To make sure the files were unzipped well, go into the Conquests/Scenarios/MEM folder and see what's there. There should be "Art" and "Text" folders and some readme files. If you see another MEM folder, it's wrong (drag it back to Conquests/Scenarios to fix it).

Also, what exact errors do you get? If the missing files appear to be from the original Civ3, the general solution for installing mods on Macs posted in this thread might help: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=183018
