[UNIT] Mighty Ships Et Al

@SaibotLieh How to be able to edit the target name, because it does not show up for me, unless I turn on View-> block details-> show non-applicate-rows.
If you are trying to do this in Blender, I unfortunately cannot help you, since I always adjust this with NifSkope afterwards. With NifSkope, you just need to change the highlighted entry here:

I figured I would do "Do it tommorrow". That turned into 2 weeks. :cringe:
The arms are actually Shakas. I cut the originals off and spliced those on. I tried rigging to Peters skeleton at first, but problems appeared so I started over with Hannibals instead. Similar problems showed up later. It was only after I discovered the Vertice weight painting that most were solved. So, in hindsight Peters animations should have worked out. Maybe better. Except for the mustache twirling thing he does. That was the final straw that made me abandon that idea.

I'm just rolling with this as it is. It's not good enough for the downloads. So, I'm just uploading it here on the thread. I know this is a must have item for SwordofGeddon.

wow thankyou so much Toad! Interestingly, he sort of fits the nautical theme of most of your unit creations! Glad you finished him, i disagree about him being worthy for downloads. He may not have met your expectations, but it still looks quality. That is what i think anyway.

Anyways, i imagine its back to the shipyard now?

There is a modern ship I was thinking about trying. But, I don't know. The wind blows north I go north.

Best. Civ5. Conversion. Evvaaaah!

Congratulations MightyToad, this is simply wonderful. Animations are perfect. I tested both shader and nonshader nifs and couldn’t find a single instance of PITA cape clipping

This is plenty good enough for the downloads, but I imagine you’ll be getting some help with optimizations :grouphug: I’m still burning that incense for @SaibotLieh :)
I've started burning the incense, and now I'm clapping my hands together and praying for a legendary, always helpful LH maker to grace this thread. :)

Thank you very much MightyToad for being my personal hero! If the winds happen to blow you in the direction of Mighty Ancient Anatolia again, I think it’s high time we celebrate International Seriously Super Awesome Headgear Month.

While I did convert some Caucassian*-style units for RI Armenia from EU4 (from the Circassian pack below), hairy hats included, I agree that Caucasus in general is woefully underrepresented, which is a pity as there's a lot of really colourful stuff to be had there:

* For all Americans reading, meaning "from Caucasus"; though that also means that they are almost certain to be Caucassian in the other way too

Hello MightyToad, thank you for all the joy you bring to this forum!

Here’s a small update on Kamehameha (and my first meme… is it a meme?):

My First Meme.png

Shaka’s arms and hands have received a quick n dirty remap. There’s slightly more definition now.

As always, you have great models, but why don't you remove duplicate vertices? There are more than 30 thousand of them and they add more than 1 MB of the model. In addition, it is impossible to smooth the model normally with them.
For example, I literally spent half a minute.

 Yeah, the hands looked like crap. The only thing I changed was make the eyes a bit whiter. Looks good. :goodjob:

Wow, I had no idea Nifskope could do that. I fiddled around a bit trying to recreate your results. I was only able to remove doubles AFTER I reordered the blocks, and smoothed normals. But wow, what a difference. The model looks so much better in game after that.

Here it is, the Curragh, MightyToad. Whenever you want to do it, that is. :) I provided some possible textures and reference pictures too. Might make for a good workboat for European civs...

The Curragh is actually at the same technological level as Toad's Pirogue, though you wouldn't know it looking at the Civ3 version(Which I still like, brings back memories).
Yeah, the hull shape looks surprisingly modern for such a "primitive" boat.

I used the wood texture for the hull even though it is "supposed" to be covered in hides. I read that the ocean going versions are usually wood.
I rigged it to the galley, and made another version rigged to the ancient workboat.

Also, almost forgot, I tried that smooth normals trick on these. Seems to work awesome. Wish I had known about this sooner.

Man you're a fast worker, Toad. I'm always impressed by that. :) Thanks man. I'll make it all pretty and stuff and post it online, you'll have your Curragh soon Geddon. :) Another CIV III unit conversion done.

Smooth normals?

Me neither. I do all my normals and smoothing manually.

If you have time / want to MightyToad, here is the Ishibiya unit I talked about awhile ago. :) I finally got around to it lol... I think it should work with the Oromo animation fairly well.
