Minedcrafts - a Dwarf Fortress Succession Game!

Don't worry. I think the name I chose will induce lolz.

Heh, didn't think anyone would actually find it :p

Subscribing since this looks very interesting. I'd have no idea what I'm doing though...

Just download the game, try 18 or so forts, and you'll eventually get the hang of it.

This game seems awesome, but the (lack of) graphics just hurts my eyes.

I can't play due to computer issues, but I love the game and will be following this thread closely. I'd feel all warm and fuzzy inside if you name a dwarf after me.

I don't think I'd be able to play, in good part for time, so take me out of the rotation but I'll follow along and wish you all luck. Missed that the thread was moved so should have given a heads up just a little sooner but this seems like a good place to follow along.

Alright... but if you change your mind I'll put you on the back of the current player list.

I've tried dwarf fortress twice before, each time i just cannot get my head around the UI, i really wish i could because it looks so fun and i kept playing the little arena option and laughing at all the stuff that happens, but when i try play a game my darn brain just can't translate the symbols on screen to what is actually happening, the up/down ground levels also end up confusing me.

I fear i have been made lazy and slow by years and years of undemanding 3d games, ah well :(

#1 Rule of Dwarf Fortress: LOSING IS FUN!

Also, it'll take you about 5 or 7 fortresses to get the hang of it and not get killed by zombie rhesus macaques.

There's a reason for the pause button. In my early days, I paused the game quite a lot. "k" shows what is in a tile, and "v" lets you interact with dwarves (like see what they're skilled in and changing their jobs) until I memorized the usual stuff. Both functions are extremely helpful.

I read this thread and decided to try this Dwarf Fortress. I just started up a game and I have no idea what I'm doing.

Good, you've passed step 1. Some people like to pretend to think they know what they're doing.
