"Minorities" in your Community

my area of town has a lower crime rate than rosedale, which is majorly white, and has WAY less immigrants than many other parts of the city. and in my area, white is the minority. so not always.

Very few things are absolute. And, I certainly agree that many immigrants are much more civil, hardworking & honest than bitter, disaffected white boys.

anyway, has it ever occured to you that immigrants may generally be among the poorer parts of a country's population?

Of course. Dude, I'm not blaming minorities for crime, I'm not even claiming it's much of a problem now. But as economic times get bad racial tensions that have gone underground will erupt. Not necessarily in the way people might predict either. There is a lot of closet racism out there, mostly (in my experience) white Americans hating on Latin American immigrants displacing them (which I find rather ironic considering America's history displacing the same ethnic groups they now protest).

and when will the day come where the english language finally drops the concept of human "races"?...

Would be nice but I wouldn't count on it happening any day soon.

Like Mirc said, nobody calls them that. I dont think the poor ones use it either.
We use other terms - in fact the first place i've seen roma being used regulary was this forum.

It's funny also that in English their language is officially called "Romani" which in Romanian would mean "Romanians"...

I think I forgot Roma. While the leader of Roma community of Poland seems OK, and I'm sure there are many decent Romas, mostly they are either begging for money or stealing it, which is sometimes annoying. But allegedly these aren't polish Roma, but new sort from Romania.

Same here, but I think it's because we don't really concern ourselves with the gypsies in this country much. It's only when they take over campsites or prevent councils from building stuff on that particular piece of land.

Well, in Brno there are

- Slovaks (students, no problem)
- Vietnamese (I eat in their fast foods and buy stuff in their stores, so no problem )
- Ukrainians/other Eastern Europeans (mostly construction workers, no problem)
- Roma Gypsies (mostly unemployed, hanging out with a cigarette in "their" parts of the town, a lot of problems)
- Arabs/Muslims (their women walk around veiled, but mostly no problem - they run most of money exchange kiosks, have a small mosque downtown and usually mind their own business)
- Other minorities (no problem I know of)

Winner, do You have a "Moravian" minority? A lot of people in Czech RP consider themselves Moravians, not Czechs. It was especially visible in the first census.

My town is now like 10% non white. We are completly over run by immigrants. Soon Stockholm will look like Mogadishu. The crime rate is saoring. Time ti time I even see inter racial couples.

I recall reading that Oregon at one point banned black people from living in the state to avoid racial strife. This was (IIRC) around the time of the Civil War. Near my hometown there was a KKK branch dating back almost as far, but interestingly enough they counted a jew and a black man among their membership...might explain why we've got such a low minority population, we're about 80% white overall Today.

I just realized I know quite a few people who immigrated from Turkey, although I'm pretty sure I know this many only because all those that I know know each other very well and it just happened that I know one of them, and after that I gradually got to know their whole circle of friends - they are not a significant minority according to any source I've seen (not even less than 1% of the city). Most of them are at least okay people, and they all hang out around the hooka bars. A good majority of them even speak Romanian perfectly and so on. I even had a Turkish girlfriend at some point, Derya (although she didn't really speak Romanian at all, she would understand a few words from me and that was pretty much it, we were talking in a mix of Romanian, English and French, as she spoke French pretty well), and I don't even know whether she was even a Muslim or not, although her mother was really close minded and traditionalist, she seemed totally laid back and cool.

One European people. There are no swedes or french people. We are all mixed. I know very few people who are of pure swedish decent. We could be described as european, not as swedes. I don't oppose europeans moving and marrying with in Europe.

I don't want a homogenized, 1984ish Europe where every European looks the same and has the same culture. We need to preserve the culture and heritage of northern Europe! None of that interbreeding with the dark-haired southerns! And race traitors and mixes? We need to deport, right? And ya don't want your children to grow up with that mainstream culture, eating their spaghetti, drinking their wine, and praying to the Pope! Damn Papists! Scandinavia for the Scandinavians! The Slavs and Celts and so on can have the rest of Europe, but how dare they come and invade our lands with their awkward names and weird accents? Do you want your children forced to eat borscht by their oppressors? And those Mediterranean diets with their olive oils? We're Scandinavians; we don't even grow olive trees here, and they want to uproot our people by mixing with us? Replace our heritage with their food, language, names, religion, and traditions? (If you don't get it, I'm being sarcastic.)

There is no one "race" or culture of Europe.

I live in a very white area, in fact I can't think of any non-whites in Beallsville. There are only 10 non-white people in Woodsfield(the closest town, our county seat, and where I used to live)as far as I know.

In my city (Tokyo wards) the largest minority populations are Korean and Chinese. There is also a noticeable population of Nigerian, Russian and Brazilian people. Westerners here tend to get lumped together regardless of race or nationality. For example, if you are African American you are seen as an American and treated different than an African. But regardless of citizenship or where you were born, if you don't look like a native Japanese person then you are referred to as foreigner, not a minority.

Here in Fresno, I believe about 40% of the population is Hispanic. This makes me very angry.
