mm17: Napoleon Dynamite AWE-1CC

The loss of TGL is no big but the artist really sucks. For some reason that always happens when I build the Parthenon. We had like what a 5% chance for artist. Sheesh. Anyway I would merge and go for TGLibrary also dont forget about Monastaries. If we dont have it we should pick up meditation. I'd run as many scientists as we can as the early Academy is critical and if we don;t go heavy on specialists we will be cranking artists which is death.

For some reason i can not load the save it just opens up note pad and shows a bunch of crap is this SG on Warlords????

and currently we are building the Sistine chapple to add to our great city And the most stupidest thing ever Askoa declares war on us for no f***ing reason any way that was my turn View attachment 134063

Hmmm ... why are we not heading striaght towards Literature for TGLibrary? We can't afford to lose that wonder.

Great job with the Hanging Gardens and the Chichen, both are good to deny the rest of the world from ... esp teh Hnaging Gardern which also gives us a free pop.

But we met Asoka? Hmm .. that is a bit early for comfort ... It will force us to divert some attention to military builds.

well lituare isnt that much turns if i remember correctly only 3

Very glad to see an academy, but after Pottery I couldn't think of anything more important than Literature and getting the Great Library; after that would be Drama for the Globe

OK we are in rough shape. Our crabs are about to be pillaged. We have 2 warriors so I have to grab iron and we still have to get TGL. TGL is the second most important wonder for 1CC after the pyramids. Also we have 1 unhappy citizen and are building Sistene which not only do we not need but is actively bad for us as it gives more artist points. Every other GP is better than artists. I rank them as scientist/engineer as best, then merchant for the food plus $$ then prophets for hammer+$$. Anyway we are also under attack and have no Navy. Anyway I switch build to temple and continue on IW. Also I noticed that we cut a forest causing us to loose 1 health. THis is not good. We need the health. Please in the future do not cut any forests. We cannot get any more health resources than we have and that 1 health was very valuable and we will probably never get to biology.

75AD: Our crabs are pillaged and we have more incoming galleys. Stop the irrigating worker. Damn if we could only pillage roads we might get forest regrowth. I am tempted to let the troops that I know are comming to pillage.

100AD: IW -> Alphabet

125AD: Start mining the iron and now see a ship with 2 archers incoming. Start a 3rd warrior to avoid a loss.

150: 2 Archers land and 2 more incoming.

175: Defeat 1 archer on defense.

200: Defeat another and the others pillage.

225: Nice he pillages a plains road. DO NOT REROAD. If a forest grows back we gain 1 health.

250: Beat another archer and the remaining archer moves onto our marble. With TGL comming up I do not want this pillaged so I attack with a cover warrior and loose. The second wins.

275: 2 galleys also ready.

300: I didn;t realise we had archery. Now I build an archer. Also we get a Prophet and he is merged. Angor would be nice if we get more of these. Iron on line. Workboat and 2 galleys on the way to crabs.

325: 1 galley looses on defense. The crabs will have to wait. Lit in TGL in 7. Other galley wins but Asoka has 2 by our crabs so I will wait as we now have to focus on TGL. Res Meditation in 1 for Monastaries.

350-450 Start Metal Casting. Building TGL. No further military action.

475: OK TGL in 1. I would also like the Colossus.

500: TGL in. Build an Ax while waiting for forge/Colossus build.

520: MC in start Philo for Angor Wat as I see we have lots of prophet points and maybe Taoism and Pacifism.

540-600: Building forge->Colossus.

OK we got the library and will hopefully get the Colossus. The only other world wonder I would build at this point is Angor Wat.

I really don't think we should chop any forests There is one empty plain that could grow a forest so please do not do anything to it. No road no modification of any kind to see if we can get the health point back. There are plenty of forests to chop outside the cross. My play would be to switch to pacifism and research to Edu first for Oxford and then to Optics. We can start to go after Asoka with maces and then head to chemistry. We can use liberalism for astronomy or even steel.

Well good luck. Since it is 1CC we can take 1 more round of about 20 and then go to 10 for the heavy fighting.

600AD0000.JPG

Great job getting the TGL, good to know we didn't lose the TGL due to the diversion. After the colossus, I will probably build some galleys to protect the resources. Research wise, we need to take optics, calendar, paper, Education (not necessarily in that order) to take Liberalism for the Astronomy slingshot.

Got it. We can use one more player though. SUggest a little advertisement in the Registration thread, as people may not think we need players since we are already onto page 2.

The Rise of Paris

History has never recorded clearly when the first agression by Paris was conducted. It was only clear that after Paris under the rule of Mark II successfully fended off the initial Indian attacks, the first French agression out of Paris border occured after GreyFox II ascends the throne.

The agreed version was that GreyFox II continued the work of the Colossus, which was hurried with the burning of forest timbers.

mm17-AD0660-colossus.jpg

Thereafter, a revolution to Theocracy takes place, marking the first sign of the agressiveness of the Parisan under GreyFox's rule.

mm17-AD0680-civics.jpg

And soon, the Paris troops were sent northwards to exact revenge against the Indians ...

mm17-AD0800-Lahore.jpg

... and the city of Lahore was razed without any lost of French troop. The waters of Paris were also cleared of the Indians pirates ...

mm17-AD0860-galley.jpg

... with one loss of a galley. The city mourns the sacrifice, and a National Epic was built in commemoration. Rumors had it that GreyFox's main intention was to build the Heroic Epic, but seemingly the French soilders had not accumulated enough battle experience to successful construct one.

Even though France under the rule of GreyFox II were widely regarded as the rise of agression, the French were hailed as the most advance civilization in this period.

mm17-AD0820-advanced.jpg

Furthermore, religious advancement were also evident as the populance founded a new religion ...

mm17-AD0760-taoism.jpg

... and produced a great scientist:

mm17-AD0680-scientist.jpg

A wonder was also errected:

mm17-AD0920-ankor.jpg

The completion of the Ankor Wat so greatly inspired the Parisans that a Great Prophet was borned:

mm17-AD0960-prophet.jpg

So, is GreyFox II an agressor or a religious ruler? The answer to which the readers would have to determine for themselves.

>>> The Save (600AD) <<<

Some notes:

- An axeman is 1 xp away from level 4 to enable the Heoric Epic, hopefully Asoka would attempt to settle at the same island again and give our axeman one more battle.

- Since the worker has nothing to do, suggest pre-chopping some forest, and roading them so that we can get quick hammers when the need arise ...

mm17-AD1000-paris.jpg

- Research wise I would suggest Machinery > Optics > Paper > Education > Calendar > Liberalism and nabs Astronomy for free. May consider Education first for the university, but I think Optics is more urgent for some caravels to protect our coasts. Drama can wait till we get astronomy.

- I have deleted two missionaries thinking that it will save 1g of unit cost (but it did not :crazyeye:). One more is performing fog busting duty at the SW.

- Build-wize, suggest going for Monastries (I remember building one, but apparently I mis-clicked and may have built a temple instead :smoke:) for trhe +10% boost. Also, more galleys is always nice. A harbor would also add one health from our crabs.

Pindicator is UP.

A nice, quiet builder set of turns. I built all 4 monestaries in 5 turns; I also built a granary to encourage growth and have set research to Drama (a 2-turn delay from Liberalism, but we are nearing our happiness max).

I need to learn to repress my desire to explore:

mm171020adalexwaruh9.jpg

You can also see that Asoka was kind enough to land us another settler to kill; we lost another axe, yet we did raze another city and our buffed up axe did hit Level 4 in experience. Heroic Epic only took 2 turns to build

mm171060adheroiccv6.jpg

And the final note is that Archimedes was born in town.

mm171090adarchemideskq1.jpg

We can currently churn out a mace ever turn, and a mace is the most expensive unit we can currently build. I put the surviving axe and sword on a boat to be upgraded to maces.

Are maces enough to go out after Asoka? He has longbows; I wonder if maces/cats/eles would do the job.

After drama I can't see any reason not to bee-line for Liberalism

Edit: Oh, I pre-chopped several forests

Good job building us the Heroic Epic! :goodjob:

We still need one more diversion to calendar just before Liberalism if we want Astro as the free tech. Looking at the map, although asoka and alex can reach us via galleys, we can't. So we definitely need Astron before we can reach them. Hopefully by the time we have galleons, Asoka is still in the Feudalism age, so maces plus cats so be able to raze one city or two. Worst come to worst, we can pillage to help fund our research and upgrades, whilw we beeline to Chemistry & Steel.

Xtream is UP!

We are looking quite good. We could go on the offensive if we have nothing else to do/build. Or we could wait til chemistry. It would be nice to train up some CR3 maces for upgrade to Greni. Those things are great right through to infantry. We could do this just by wacking settlers. I have a feeling that their major cities will have crossbows which counter maces well. The best situation I've found is to wait for grenis and build up a bit of navy and some XP units, However if if they are weakly defended we should go for it.

okay during my turn the following happend

We finished drama Civ4ScreenShot0000.JPG
8 mace men were built along with 3 carvels and a theater
we had 2 naval battles both which we won
Calander was compleated along with paper and currently on education as soon as we are done with education we can go on to Liberasim and as u can see my turn wasnt that exciting ;) and here is the save View attachment 134521

OK not the directions I would go but that is the fun part of SGs. A few points. We have 7 maces and no troop transports. We have no cats built either thus we are not ready for an invasion. Since we are going the early military route I will try to fix that. Start making galleys. Also for this game it would be very nice to have the circumnavigate bonus. so I send our caravels out to see the globe. I also stop growth and hire specialists. We will get no more health bonus and we are 1 short of unhealthy yet we probably want to build the ironworks and a dry dock which will put us into deficit. I see we have an artist this is one reason that we usually want to run max specialists early until we add our GP and the returns are diminishing. Switch to running 4 scientists.

Loose a caravel to greek galley in 1220.

1250: meet Ceaser.

1270: Meet Toku.

1290: Edu->Liberalism to take Astro.

1300: Spit out 1 more Caravel and start Uni. Our Army is pictured below. 1 elephant, 2 cat, 2 spear, 7 maces and I see I screwed up by not upgrading our ax and sword. Damn and you can't upgrade on ship. Oh well you can un load and upgrade and use to take Kolalampur. I was headed for Bangalor.

Good luck. With the wars starting we can go to 10 turns each. Please complete Uni and oxford and observatory. I am a bit worried about tech. If we are not well ahead for a while we are in trouble.

OK I see a major screw up. We cannot get to them with galleys so will have to wait for astro. Because of this is appears I built too many transports.

Heh, I warned you about the need for Astro before we can go on the offensive ...

Me some post earlier said:
Looking at the map, although asoka and alex can reach us via galleys, we can't. So we definitely need Astron before we can reach them.

But no big harm done. At least that means I don't have to build anymore units and can spend some time building the university and oxford.

Got it.
