Always advantages of using an AKA, you don't want to say anything damning that could be found on record for later in life.

Mine is short for his official name, The Artist Formerly Known As Pasi Nurminen, The Greatest Professional Athlete Ever Known

If I wanted to I could track you to within a mile of where you live based on your IP Address and your name.

This is a stupid noobish question but where do I see my IP address?

Scipio Africanus was the Roman general who defeated Hannibal of Carthage and pretty much doomed poor Carthage to Hades forever.
You might find it interesting to track down a copy of Poul Anderson's The Time Patrol. It's a collection of short stories from his Time Patrol series where Unattached Time Agent Manse Everard ranges through thousands of years of time, helping make sure Earth's history is preserved from criminals who seek to mess it up (for whatever reasons of their own). One of the best of these stories is "Delenda Est" and features Scipio Africanus and what might have happened to subsequent history if this battle had gone the other way and Hannibal had won.

**********

My own name, Valka D'Ur, came about as a result of my addiction to Civ II: Test of Time. The science fiction game starts out with a colony ship of people landing on the planet Funestis. There are four human groups, and three alien groups. The Uridians are human (and use the color purple). When I play this scenario, I use the name Valka D'Ur (Valka of the Uridians). The name "Valka" is a nod to the female warriors of Norse mythology, the Valkyries.

Stegyre: A purposefully unpronounceable combination of letters from my real name, with a vague resemblance to my real name. As it is not a real word, it has the virtue that it is seldom (read "never") already in use in any forum to which I want to subscribe.

Anyone who has played SMAC would guess my real name is Guido. Well, it is and I played SMAC.

For all of those who haven't (shame on you! ) it is Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.
This game is similar to Civ but located in Alpha Centauri after spaceship launch. Once there you encountered native lifeforms as mind worms bla bla bla which called you "earth<name>" 'cos you came from Earth!

Valka D'Ur- I've ordered it from the local library (it is also called 'What Might Have Been- Volumes 1 & 2. Right?). Sounds very interesting. Do you know of any other books of his that are particularly interesting? I'm always on the search for new authors and I always find it tedious to pick through the junk to find the good ones.

BTW-My brother has a cool alias. Zufall. It's German for "coincidence". My brother speaks German and Russian fluently and I'm always sorely tempted to make my aliases some word in one of those languages.

He's a guy. Hence the name 'dude'. If he was a girl, it would be 'IglooBabe'.

ID - Your story reminds me of the time when I told my teacher at school (in CA) that my dad was an Indian from Alaska. She told me no, he was an eskimo. That was an interesting conversation when he got home that night....

Heretic - several things; my beliefs being just one of them
Cata - is short for my name: C&#259;t&#259;lin - which is a guy name btw. :p
