They don't
Do it..If I wanted to I could track you to within a mile of where you live based on your IP Address and your name.
Do it..
People keep saying this
I have yet to see actual evidence
This is a stupid noobish question but where do I see my IP address?Google IP locator and punch in your IP address and be amazed as it gives you directions to your house.
You might find it interesting to track down a copy of Poul Anderson's The Time Patrol. It's a collection of short stories from his Time Patrol series where Unattached Time Agent Manse Everard ranges through thousands of years of time, helping make sure Earth's history is preserved from criminals who seek to mess it up (for whatever reasons of their own). One of the best of these stories is "Delenda Est" and features Scipio Africanus and what might have happened to subsequent history if this battle had gone the other way and Hannibal had won.Scipio Africanus was the Roman general who defeated Hannibal of Carthage and pretty much doomed poor Carthage to Hades forever.
I lived in Alaska, and always got asked (online, by non-Alaskans) "Do you live in an igloo?"
My username was created as preemptive sarcasm.
And for the record, I'm the only one, except some nimrod at Gamespot starting using the nick as well, sometime last year.
