    Ha I like that too.

    Name: Civ Fanatics Domain
    Formal: Civ Fanatics
    Adjective: Civ Fanatic

Perhaps our capital could be named Thunderfall, in honor of our beloved admin?

Alright guys, we need to settle on a naming theme already! It sounds like we've got consensus for a CFC-theme, just not how to apply it. I like the idea of using CFC members for our unit names. We could name workers after admins and moderators, and other units after team members and CFC veterans/superstars/experts. I'd love for one of our spies to be named after me, for example. I think RegentMan mentioned a Longbow could be named after him. We've got lots of members to choose from, so we shouldn't run out of options as our army grows.

For city names, I actually like 2metra's use of Indira for the capital. Maybe we can continue along those lines, and name our cities after foreign (non-English) words that have nice meanings. Some names we could use might be Dewachen (Tibeten for Land of Bliss), Umoya (Zulu for wind, breath or soul), Parakram (Hindi for power), or Schadenfreud (German for taking delight in the misfortunes of others, to be used for a captured city). It doesn't really tie in with CFC, though, so maybe it won't work for that reason.

I like this suggestion very much, because there will be much to take entries from and I guess we together know lots of languages. I am f.ex fluent in norwegian and russian beside english.

    Svet - Light in russian
    Glede - Happiness in norwegian

The word "poleno" came to mind. It's my grandmother's nickname for me, and is Slovak for "useless piece of wood".

Oh, also Slovak has "kasisvet", meaning "world-wrecker".

Doubt those are good for much, but there you are.

Hmm, lot of Slavic languages speaking teammates :) I am fluent in Bulgarian (obviously) and Russian too.

Speaking of German language, Feuer Frei comes to my mind of naming our Hero Epic city :) Crupp for our Ironworks city too :) Our third quick city can be Schnelle :D

I'm now imagining a series of cities named Flaming Galah, Nincompoop, Feckless Wonder, Muppet, Drongo, Plonker, Dunderhead, Buffoon, Wally, ...

Haha, I'm liking these city names people are proposing. Keep them coming!

How about my suggestion for workers (named after admins) and other units (named after other CFC members)? Our first worker will be completing soon. Do we like Thunderfall or DaveShack for him?

Hmm, just thinking ahead, if we're building an army to go after one team in particular, maybe we can name some of those units after members of that team who are also registered on CFC? Might be funny when they get attacked by their own team members! That might give away our intentions too much, though...

Many cottages start off as shacks. I'd be fine with having a worker name. :)

Shouldn't we name our workers after the CFC members who are playing on other teams? ;)

A really nasty namingscheme would be naming the cities with only minuscule differences. Would make it hard for our enemies to keep track on our cities. Especially if we'd switch names every now and then. Though, reality is, we'd probably end up mostly just confusing ourselves :p

BTW, I really like Nincompoop :D And if we're going with different languages theme, I know Finnish well, Swedish quite well and a little French and Japanese (and obviously English).

    :bump:

Did we agree to go with mods for workers and CFC members in general as units? We have a warrior and now a worker who both need names.

I suggest to call our worker Angela Merkel, since she is going to build lots of improvements so we don't end up like Greece:lol:

I guess, if you give her a spade, it will be a very slow road construction though...

Right, I forgot your suggestion to name workers after CFC members who "deserted" to other teams. That's a good one.

I particularly like that "deserted" CFC members idea. I'm smirking at the idea that someone might jump to the conclusion that these people who we've honored with worker names, are actually working for us in another sense, as double agents, based on paranoia about our position in the espionage debate.

Angela Merkel makes me laugh too, but when I think about it more, the champion of austerity doesn't seem like a good candidate for building our infrastructure.

On the other side, names on former teamplayers would be a laugh only for those who has been on this team before
