GoldenEye was good. So was Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros. was the N64's sole certifiable classic.

As far as Zelda goes, it's like this:

Link to the Past > Adventure of Link > Original Zelda.
Zelda was way harder than Zelda II and the 2nd quest gave it much longer gameplay. I never did play Link to the Past.

How is shooting a bunch of aliens (and asking questions later) deep? (Contra)
It's not deep. But it was a fun game. :)

Its deep 'coz its hard as hell. That creates a depth all of its own
Contra was fairly easy. I beat it without the 30-life code a number of times. Super-C on the other hand!

EDIT: and of course mario kart!
Mario Kart on the SNES sucked compared to Mario Kart 64 (though to be fair, if i played the SNES Mario Kart 1st I might have a fondness for it.

Resident Evil was good...

Final Fantasy 7 was good...

Ugly as sin, though.

The SNES passed me by as we got a Sega Mega Drive at the time. I had a NES before that, and I'll vote for that simply based on the brilliance that was Super Mario Bros. 3 :)

Eh. Maybe.

3D platformers are ugly and awkward.

I don't really consider any of the 3d Zelda games as "platformers". I also disagree with your overall assertion!:cool::mad:

What? The Z Button was perfect for shooter games, much better than a mouse.

Ever played a straight console shooter port to PC? They're comically easy, since aiming with the mouse is so much easier than aiming with analog sticks. The only way to even it up is to add disgusting amounts of autoaim with the analog sticks.

I have a wireless 360 controller and SFIV pad for my PC, which I use whenever appropriate, but using analog controls for a shooter is like circle-strafing in Doom with only a keyboard - amusing and useful at the time, but slow and frustrating now.

NESes are superior to anything, for obvious reasons.

They have their own subforum.

:mischief:

My console ownership has developed as follows:

NES --> PSX --> PS2

I have never regretted it.

SNES, because it has cool rpgs like Chrono Trigger, Tales of Phantasia, Lufia, etc.

My console (fixed, not portable) ownership goes as follows

NES -> SNES -> Sega Genesis -> Dreamcast -> Console Emulation on PC
