NES World/Regional Maps Requests Thread

Like I said, you could also add Serbia and Wallahia-Moldavia.

Yo. This. Nao.

Also, first person to find a respectable population figure for planet Earth, Jan 1, 2008, gets points.

Unfortunately, all the official estimates only give mid-year populations. Probably your best bet is to use the mid-year 2007 population estimate and the population growth rate and extrapolate it over six months.

Greater Turkmenistan (silver2039, I think, though Grandmaster took over for him at one point).

No it was me till the end. And that article is biased. Biased I say.

Also for Indian princely states here are a couple maps I have:

Welcome to sunny 1980!

Awesome. A worthy cold war map. But some countries are colored in the same color and are near each other (like Japan and USSR). Should be fixed.

Sorry, your monitor settings suck. Change them. USSR is (188.0.0), Japan is (153.0.0). Britain is (207,23,43), China is (222,41,16). I don't approve of using wacky colors to improve visibility when possession can be referenced (argumentum ad Abaddon).

... OR you can manually pick the colors and check the RGB numbers for them every time you want to refer to the map (even mspaint can do it, with some work!)!

MS Paint officially sucks because it screws up PNG-8 every single time (it has compression problems, so sayeth Wikipedia) and adds like 60kb even if you just make a two-pixel correction and click save. Anyone who wants to work with maps really should get something better. Anything.

Is there anything else that is free to use? And easy to use, except for paint?

GIMP, GIMPShop (haven't tried, but I hate GIMP's interface so anything that will change that must be nice), Paint.NET (very easy to use, easier than GIMP, but needs runtime stuffs and only works on Windows but hey maybe it will run with wine)--plus the other free ones here.

@Dis: I have "2.4.5-1ubuntu2," the latest according to my package manager, so yes. It might be a lot better than previous versions, sure, but the annoying fact remains that it clutters desktops with several disjointed windows (it might be okay for you, but I'm not a particularly focused person so i tend to do several things at once).

Retroactive deletion.

Some of those are useful. Thanks.

I suppose the easier question to ask in the case of the Arabia is whether there was any real definition of Saudi control in the region before unification, or whether it was so diffuse as to be intangible on a map.

Yeah, there was real definition, but only around Riyadh and Qassim, as well as al-Hasa and territory connecting those areas.

I see no reason for Romania not to be yellow.
