1AP After taking a moment of silence and relaxation to become better tuned with nature, I shall search the treetops for eggs and the ground for easily found food, like mushrooms or grubs. Obviously if some tasty fruits present themselves, bite right in!

1AP Gotta start a fire, it's freezing! Stay near the fire when possible, and hope that it keeps predators away.

Well, I'm reminded that trying to update this in one night is stupid. There is a lot of graphical fiddling, because I want to do it that way, because I'm obsessive like that... I've done the map now, but I want to sleep and clear my head before finishing the write-up, and add new players to the world.

Reminder that Popcornlord is inactive and someone can take over that spot - she has survived this turn and encountered other people.

TerrisH has survived the baby stage.

Also before I forget, feel free to suggest architectural styles for your undertakings ~ I am just randomly drawing things at present.
 
So... Sleep has defeated me again... Lots of sunshine and exercise today. People on #NES had a chance to encourage me to stay awake and update, but they ignored me... So blame them :p

Honestly, the main stumbling block over the past couple of hours has been where to put the new players. It has lots of implications potentially. I think the general consensus is to have only in-game births from now on, what do you think?

EDIT: Qoou would be the cut-off point. But there is one new pregnancy already this turn ;)

So a 50-50 chance that either Me and Vert (does his name change to ChineseWarlord?) or Merciary and Lord Herobrine have a child. I really don't think that tuxedohamm is in any condition to get pregnant again with only 1 AP.

At least it pretty much guarantees which ever group it is to have both members survive into the next round.
 
I feel we could afford a few more spontaneous generations, actually. Allow for a greater variety of Genetics.
 
Throw me into the player line-up, as Darth's game seems to be dead.

Immaculate and Lord of Elves: in the morning, Immaculate harvests one plot of vegetables (leafy and with edible roots, perhaps aided by the passing storm, or the forest spirits; you discover 4 day-rations worth of food) while Lord of Elves makes her way to the dwelling. You meet around mid-day, while Immaculate is busy making a pickaxe. She is a beautiful and formidable figure; well muscled, brandishing a spear and an axe, but sunburnt and insect-bitten, the aura of the wilderness about her. Immaculate is strong and vibrantly healthy, and also somewhat intimidating. You are cautious of each other, and remain so; Immaculate seems happy to offer up some of his food, which is gratefully received, and Lord of Elves does little but eat and sleep for the rest of the day, but she keeps her weapons close by.

Meanwhile, Immaculate hacks away at the large boulders outside, striking lucky - hitting natural fissures in the rock, he chisels out two lots of useful Stone Blocks before nightfall. A strange burning smell fills the night air as he goes to rest opposite Lord of Elves. At dawn, you notice forest deer have been nibbling again at your un-harvested garden patch (it may now hold only 1-2 days of food). More disturbingly, big black clouds of smoke rise in the west, and you sense a disturbance amongst the forest animals...

Immaculate wakes with 5AP and now has: a Stone Axe, a Hoe, a Stone Pickaxe, a Linen Blanket, 1x Vegetable Meal (Lord of Elves has eaten greedily), 2x Stone Blocks, a Bamboo Dwelling with Fireplace. Lord of Elves has 4AP, a Stone Axe and Stone Spear.

North King: as you enter the cave, the mysterious bright blue glow seems to have vanished. Veins of blue mineral line the cave wall, but even in the darkest corners of the cave, you notice only a faint glow that seems to follow your hand as you pass it over. You stay a while in the cave, transfixed by this phenomenon. You also see crawl-spaces that may lead away into further depths, but for now you hesitate to explore any further. You emerge into afternoon sun to go spear fishing on the beach; you have no luck fishing, but you do stumble across a fall of juicy coconuts. Again, you notice a bamboo dwelling nearby, and are conscious of someone hacking away at rocks. You consider going to greet him, but by now you are tired, and you settle to rest on the beach, and catch a beautiful sunset before being soothed to sleep by the breaking waves. At dawn you notice two people close by, but they do not seem to have noticed you – they seem distracted by the dark clouds rising in the west. You have 4AP.

Seon: in the morning you set up a campfire. You have some bad luck foraging, as you are repeatedly bitten and stung and scraped by the ungrateful undergrowth. As dusk falls, you return to your camp and get a fire going, but it is not long before flames leap up the old, sun-dried vines in the surrounding trees. You can only shelter on the beach as a forest fire takes hold, blazing throughout the night and into the morning, causing a commotion among other forest residents. You have 3AP and are rather hungry.

You have a hard day's work, breaking up rocks and building a stone moment near your home. You are pleased with the results. As sun sets you retire to rest; you've had nothing to eat all day, and are ravenously hungry after all that hard work. But you sleep fairly well. In the morning, it seems your monument has attracted a positive atmosphere. The air seems a little warmer, the breeze gentler. Birds sing beautiful songs. You have 3AP.


Merciary, Lord Herobrine and Milarqui

Concerned for Merciary's safety, Herobrine builds a fine shield made from sticks covered with boar hide. Merciary meanwhile builds a gardening hoe, and the pair of you start to experiment with growing things. Later in the day, Herobrine finishes construction of a wooden dwelling, while Merciary goes fishing in the lake to the north, and strikes lucky - spearing a very large fish indeed. All the while, a bloody, wound-crazed Dire Boar lurks in the undergrowth, but seems reluctant to approach with both of you nearby. At night, you have too much food to eat; leaving the fish meat for later, you use up yesterday's boar meat and apples. The local wolf pack returns this night, and Merciary feeds them some scraps, earning their affection. But just as bonds are being forged, the wolves scatter suddenly. A sense of unease descends, and you both hear sounds in the near distance, strange and disturbing. You settle down in your new dwelling; with a fire going and deer skin shutting out the night, quiet descends, and your romance blossoms...

Merciary awakes today with 5AP. The garden plots need to be tended for 1AP each, at least one more time before they can be harvested (lacking the instinct for Herbal Lore, you can only guess at how to grow anything). Something is very different about Herobrine, who has 4AP today and is ravenously hungry, as well as feeling especially cold outside the shelter of the hut. Together you have spare food: 2x Fish Meat (moderately filling), 2x Bones, 1x Fish Skin (weak but waterproof), 1x Backpack (Merc), 1x Stone Tools (Hero), 2x Stone Spears (1 each), 1x Stone Axe (Merc), 1x Fishbone Ornament (Merc), 1x Boarskin Shield (Merc).

...

Meanwhile, a lost spirit attempts to possess the body of a large, feisty female Auroch, a giant cow. But strange energies are rippling unseen across the landscape, and some kind of confluence occurs; the lost spirit fuses with the Auroch, but in doing so opens a gateway between realms. A new, unstable form takes shape. Milarqui is barely in control of this new form. As night falls, he roams the land with a desire to seek out human beings. On the way he encounters a certain Dire Boar; memories are triggered and unstoppable rage takes hold. The prey is chased throughout the night, halted only by the burning light of dawn which forces a withdrawal to shade and shelter.

Milarqi has become an abomination.

You are still recovering from recent troubles. But you keep busy, crafting tools from bones and setting traps around the area, even as dusk falls. Unknown to you, a large bear is stalking close by, but it is distracted by an unseen presence – a spirit attempting to possess the animal. It resists, but in its confusion it does not attack you. You awake with 3AP, blissfully warm with the sheep skin and fire, compared to previous hard nights. But you did not give yourself much time to sleep and still feel tired. You have eaten the spare meat, and now have: 1x Wool Blanket, 1x Bone Tools, 1x String (sinew), 2x Small Traps (set nearby), and a Stone Spear.

Today you make a backpack and a small raft. As dusk falls, you bravely push out into the waves. It is not long before you are being carried away by strong currents. By moonlight, you clutch your divination pebbles and meditate, seeking further guidance. You lose all sense of direction. The sea is fairly calm, but a cold wind blows as you drift through the night. The spirits offer confused whispers, you sense new energies stirring; you see at least one path that leads to adventure and exploration, but takes you far away from other humans.

As dawn breaks, your raft is beached in the surf, nudging you from your trance. You find yourself on a tiny windblown island, surrounded by noisy colonies of giant seagoing beasts, who seem to take little interest in you. Strange berries are growing in their midst. You are rather cold, hungry and tired. You have 3AP.


tuxedohamm, Angst and TerrisH

All day Angst tries his best to find food, equipped only with some small stone hand tools, bullied by giant geese and large hairy beasts. He seems unwilling to hunt for meat, and the surroundings have already been foraged repeatedly. All he can bring back are some shellfish, seeds and herbs. But Tuxedohamm, with no more shelter than the treetops, manages to nurture her child through its first day, thanks to her Spiritual and Hardy nature. Her life still hangs in the balance, and her son TerrisH is somewhat malnourished. An uncomfortable night passes, with a pack of wolves passing dangerously close before mysteriously vanishing.

Angst has 3AP. Tuxedohamm still has only 1AP and is feeling unwell. Their child TerrisH has 2AP and is also very hungry. Dawn reveals a big brown bear foraging dangerously close by.



Patchy, Vertinari118 and Popcornlord

Patchy and Vertinari have a tough day, fighting a running battle with a large pack of lions as they move north; a first wave of young, immature males harasses you for some time, until driven away by Patchy's slingshot. Larger, more mature lions attack in the afternoon, and have you surrounded for a while. Vertinari holds them off at spearpoint while Patchy backs him up; the pair of you are very lucky to escape with only minor scrapes. Some feisty giant wilderbeest arrive to divert the attention of the lions as evening falls. You move on, finding yourself in hilly terrain, but with a continued sense of unease. Predators rule these lands, and you sense human blood has been shed here previously. You consider making a fire for the night, but find an empty cave that provides shelter; the air is warm enough, so you simply collapse inside to rest. Strange minerals line the cave walls, giving off a gentle yellow glow. But any romantic feelings are disturbed by the cries and calls of fearsome beasts that echo across the valleys until dawn breaks.

Having had little to eat yesterday, you are both feeling worn down, but nonetheless wake with 3AP: thanks to Vertinari's hardiness and Patchy's energetic nature. Dawn also reveals another human figure nearby, keeping a safe distance; Popcornlord has similarly been on the run from giant hyena, and is a tired, hungry and bedraggled figure with 2AP.

With leftover food from yesterday, you take it somewhat easy today. You spend the day crafting a new linen mattress, and fixing together a portable tent from bone, hide and linen. You have a rather comfortable night. You awake with 4AP. You have 1x Linen, 1x Antlers, 1x Bone, 1x Stone Tools, 1x Stone Spear, 1x Tent.

You are hungry. You need to survive. It is time to eat that friendly rabbit. However, as you go to bash it over the head, its survival instincts suddenly seem to kick in again. With a sudden jolt, it bounds away into the distance. You go hungry again as you prepare a fire, which is not so easy as a scattering of rain falls across the plain. But at night, the smoke keeps the insects away, and you rest fairly well, your hunger making you lethargic. You awake with 2AP, desperately hungry, but it seems nature has offered a helping hand; fruit is suddenly blossoming in the surrounding bushes, attracting noisy flocks of colourful birds.

Unknown to you, the spirit of Arrow Gamer now inhabits a small brown bird nearby. It has no way of communicating its thoughts...

A hard day's foraging offers up meagre rewards: some herbs, nuts and insects. As night falls you find yourself near a cave, apparently deserted, it seems natural to shelter there. It takes time to get the fire going and you do not get much sleep before dawn. Cold air and wind has been biting your skin the whole time, and the fire is very welcome. Today you awake with 3AP, but you are rather hungry, tired and dreading another day exposed in the cold.

But you have bad luck trying to hunt, as sheep and deer bound away into the distance; perhaps they are on edge as giant eagles continue to lurk overhead. An exhausting day climbing up and down slopes has come to naught. At least you sleep fairly well, taking care to stoke the flames high against the chilling breeze. You awake with 3AP, although you are now very hungry. For now your bad luck seems to continue, as it seems the traps remain empty.

You stand on a dry, deserted hilltop, high enough to catch a cooling breeze, but you can see a vast heat haze obscuring the south. You are on a raised plateau, at a spot with a very picturesque view; a river flows from the north to the south, where it cuts through a steep-sided valley, separating you from another plateau. The area seems warm and fertile, but full of dangerous animals. You have 3AP.

NO MORE MAGICALLY SPAWNING NEW PLAYERS: I feel that should be it for magical appearances of new people. No more now, barring some apocalypse that wipes out the world. I like the idea of gradual, accidental explorations from this point on. I apologise, but everyone in the list after Qoou will not get their chosen character. You will have to wait to be born in-game...

CHILDREN LEARNING TRAITS: children born in-game can end up with more starting traits than others. One from genetics, one player-chosen upon reaching adulthood, and another one is likely to be acquired during the first two turns by spending time with adults (or it can be a specific 1AP student-teacher action). For a total of 3 possible.

TerrisH has grown from a Baby to a Child. He still can not lift heavy weights like lumber/stone, or big weapons like spears.

And yes, there's now more people in-game than ever. Depending on how hard it is to handle, I might stack the odds in favour of people dying off and suffering mishaps... We will see!

seeing as how LoE hasn't posted recently, i am going to go ahead with my orders and he can fit his character's orders in around mine.

Orders:
No AP: eat the last vegetable meal. Let LoE harvest my garden for food if she wants to.
3AP: pray for rain and a eastern wind to drive the fire back westwards while raising a stone monument. Architectural style should be Chinese-like. I'm thinking a small stone pagoda with a giant panda statue in it. Found a religion: “Pawahom”. Pawahom is based on veneration and supplication of the spirits of the forest. Each one is represented by an animal totem with the Panda totem being the eldest, most benevolent and ultimately the creator of many other of the forest spirits. Natural or poorly understood phenomenon (like storms and forest fires) are the manifestations of the spirits pleasure/displeasure.

Assuming that works,
1AP: grab my spear and go foraging in the ashes of the fire (w/ LoE- protecting each other and helping each other investigate cool stuff)- looking for cooked meat, bones, sinew, skins not too badly burned, even ornamental feathers, anything that could be used. Prioritize finding a belt or some skins i can use to drag stuff around on so i can carry more stuff. Also prioritize things that make me look cool- bones or feathers i can stick in my hair or cool skins i can drape over my shoulders or tie around my waist. Its time to get FANCY- we got seducing to do after all.

If the fire continues to threaten Pandaholme, then,
1AP: grab as much as I can (especially the stuff that burns and cannot be saved from ashes), wrap myself in my blanket and head north to the half-finished hut I spotted in the distance.
