Just to pass the time, has everyone heard of that new PC game, Spore, that's coming out soon? It looks so awesome. It literally is like this NES made into a proper game. Some people don't like th graphics but I love them, besides there's more to a game then just good graphics. You can check it out on www.spore.com if you haven't heard of it. I heard it was only £25 to pre-order in the UK.

Ya, spore looks awesome. Its got so many different game type elements (from what I gather from the vids and previews) like the evolution part, then it goes on to a simplistic RTS, then up to a more galactic sandbox/RTS/mission/mess with less advanced civilizations style game play. What I'm really looking forward too are 1. Evolution (of course) 2. Making my own vehicles for my crazy critters, and 3. Flying to a different planet and convincing the natives that I'm their god, then annihilating them when they piss me off

I think I'm going to love it all really. What they've said about the space stage is pretty vague but it looks pretty good. I'm hoping it will allow you to create whole food chains and stuff on new planets by creating new creatures. When you reach teh space stage you get all the editors unlocked so, presumably, you could go back to creature stage on a new planet, play around with that for a while, and then go back to your space stage creatures again when your done. That's what I hope at least. Also, I really hope tehy let you choose when you want to go to the next stage and they don't just do it automatically. I'd probably want to play the tribe stage for a while and would probably prefer it to the city stage.

Why, what did they look like before? I think they're fine TBH, its not meant to be a really serious game, the graphics suit it IMO.

I don't think they have ever been different, but I just wish it was a little bit more serious.

Im a Zoologist, I like how evolution makes sense, creatures look the way they do because it makes sense.

I hoped spore would do this, but it seems more likely that we will have odd, childlike mutant creatures with 3 eyes and 7 legs, just to be different.. even if it biologically makes no sense.

I've been following it since March 2006.

I don't think they have ever been different, but I just wish it was a little bit more serious.

What annoys me is the eyes on the cellular level creatures. The earlier versions didn't have that, and I'm pretty sure that it's the one really cartoonish thing about the game.

Personally, I hope (but doubt) that there's some sort of mechanism to make animals with unsuitable body forms struggle more, like there is in reality.

Spore related: Do you know how hard it would be to make realistic body parts for aliens, that all blended together seemlessly? Hard. Not making it cartoony would be an achievement of Epic proportions. Also, I like a break from incredibly violent and serious games.

i thought it was gonna be $50, maybe they're upping the price? If they do that, it'll suck, but I'll still end up buying the game. Errr, wait, EA could be reading this thread, so um, I mean, if they up the price, I wont buy the game. Yeah, that's what I meant.
