Naval melee units don't get damaged from attacking embarked units.... not sure if this is intended or not but it's weird.
why is it weird?
Picture little troop landing crafts, vs a Destroyer (or rather a destroyer that is actually made for ramming, remember the whole idea of a "melee class ship" is totally unrealistic).

Not sure if this was intended, but Venice puppet cities can purchase units that would normally require a specific building in an owned city. For example I can purchase diplomat units without chancery, naval units without harbor etc

Is it just me or are we more likely to experience more CTD in this version of VP after modern era with planes tanks and a whole carpet of units fighting each other? I've played a game fine for 300 turns and suddenly during an atomic/info era war i'm getting random, non-repeatable CTD every turn, sometimes even during the middle of my turns.

I've played VP since 2017-ish and the June and Aug 2020 versions of VP are the only ones that I consistently get graphical crashes with

I mean would you really be travelling over an ocean in little troop landing crafts? I assume that when embarked, units have some kind of transport that is approriate to at least travel over distances and harsh weather.

Finally managed to see a Progress AI (Carthage), so yeey.

Anyone else seeing the CS units very passive when it comes to engaging barbarian camps?

Spoiler Embarkation :

This thing does not harm nearby ships too much.

CS units never attack camps. That's intended.

I'm pretty sure in WW2 they used Ocean Liners to move troops, and they had to be protected by destroyers.

Guys, for the embarkation thing, you could really argue either way about how "realistic" it is. I think we should think about which is better for gameplay balance rather than realism.

I think everyone needs to stop asking for new features and bickering about pointless balance changes and worry about BUG fixes.

Requesting new features and changes only compounds and hides things that actually need attention. Not that this free mod isn't incredible but new features shouldn't be the main focus right now. Bug fixes and ironing out the already immense changes implemented should.

All right. What's so good, gameplay wise, about embarked units being able to damage ships? Being able to sink a caravel by throwing three embarked spearman? So you can invade by sea not bringing your own navy? I don't see the point.

First game this patch.

Turn 62, I have 4 cities already, and the first of my 2 neighbors just settled his first city. Both neighbors have had a settler built for at least 5 turns.

I think this is intended. It is rather annoying to have CS give camp quests and clear them, and to a less extent clear any camps when you are authority.

Epic, Huge, Immortal

I noticed a slightly slower expansion from AI in the very beginning, just like others have mentioned, but nothing serious I'd say, and they pretty consistently populate the continent since (~Turn 300).

Had a couple of wars already, tactical AI is still really damn good, and maybe the AI is more aggressive towards CS-s? I'd really like that :mischief:

Had a bunch of units since the beginning so can't really comment on AI diplo aggression yet.

Tactical AI is really good, good job @ilteroi , but one thing I did notice is that I was able to steal workers while at war way to easily. I would pillage a couple of improvements, and the AI would send a worker to fix it, the I would capture the worker and run away. Then the AI would send another worker, repeating the cycle. I understand that the workers are pretty slow but it doesn't matter as much because I get so many of them. Especially as the AI will waste lots of production. I think if the AI is at war and it's worker gets captured near a city, then the next time it sends out a worker near that city it should escort it. This is a pretty simple solution and it would have stopped nearly all of my worker stealing. And the AI had troops nearby, it's not like it couldn't have escorted it.

I think the earlygame AI in broad generality would be much improved if it escorted its civilians a whole lot more and did everything else with its military (mainly wandering around at random exploring) a whole lot less.

All too often I see random lone warriors or spears wandering far from the AI's land. They can't accomplish anything that way, they can't even kill camps because they're alone. The AI should keep all its foot near its territory to do important escorting/defend from pillage/prevent all its troops from being defeated in detail. If it wants to scout more it should build scouting units to do that, using foot to scout is an advanced tactic that the human can even overextend with, the AI has no place even attempting to do it.

First time in a long while to get a voluntary vassalage request but it seems kind of bugged as it was not offered as a normal trade deal but aa help request (had a DOF with Siam) so i got a negative diplo penalty with them for refusing it.
Spoiler Can i be your vassal state, please ? ..... for a small price. :
