New Buildings Discussion

I'm a bit on a break right now. There is one building left but I'm too lazy to start with it since it is only one. If I had more buildings I'd beginn to make them in 1-2 Weeks again. If you propose more buildings I'd be happy, and if you want to edit my files, go ahead, I'll tell you if I start working on them again.

I will edit the Insect Manipulation Lab tomorrow to have it require a Tech.

Do we have a telegraph office or system?

We have a building called "Telephone System", but it comes at "Telegraph" tech. This was inherited from RoM/AND. I have though about a telegraph office but since it would basically go obsolete as soon as it was made I did not add it.

If we wanted such a think there would need to be like a "Telephone" tech so that they were separate.

I have to think on these more since MrAzure has a lot of good ideas but I want to fit them with the upgrade line too.

Lookout Post -> Sentry Post -> Town Watch -> Town Patrol -> Electronic Security System

We also have ...

- AI Surveillance (Req Technocracy Civic)

I want to somehow work them all together and stuff. I am open to ideas on how to make it all work. Note that MrAzure even made a Mass Surveillance tech and we also have Grid civic which is like the "Big Brother" civic.
 
I recently read something about a giant project on the southern boarder of the USA to secure the border against illigal immigrants. It was a combination of fences, drones, motion detectors etc... I was wondering if this could work out as either a WW or a regular building unter closed boarders / skilled workers only Civic.
 
NW. Similar projects are in Israel and in lesser scale in Ceuta.
 
Thats the main problem with wonders I think:
Much of what is considered a wonder right now can easily be copied by other civs as well. Look at Las Vegas or Japan for example. There are copies of the Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa etc.
Cure of Cancer might be a HUGE success from our point of view, but in a few 100 years most people probably don't even KNOW what cancer IS.
The WOnders I suggested, Genome Encyclopedia and Protein Encyclopedia are both great achivements, but these datas are usually shared with the whole world via internet, so it's effects are actually not accurate.
More and more big projects and wonders and also techs are projects from more then just one civilization nowadays and we need to find a way how to simulate that. I already suggested research pacts which work like research in alliances (but only research).
 
Which is in part why I keep going on about Great Wonders being really great when built but at a later date (technology) some National Wonders should be similar if weaker. Naturally if you have the Great version you can't build the National version nor should you need to.

I was just looking at the icons at the top middle of the game :)espionage::culture::science: etc) and :espionage: is never first:sad: We need to get some wonders or something that give + 50 chance of emerge within cultural borders or receives more :espionage: someplace to get that in there someplace, and also get some Great Spies, I am in TransHuman Era with one of my games and i have never had the chance to get a Great Spy yet, thats just not right??

There are three wonders in the classic era that boost spy production. I try and build them in the same city and if I do then I get a Great Spy or two.
 
Carved Masks could be used for a Wonder called Council of Pochtecas . There is also Aladdin (India) and Ninja Assassins.
 
Ok I finished those buildings and upload them in a few Minutes.

1) I made Downdraft Tower a regular building, adjusted it's cost and removed the 2 GP points from it. Having it a wonder makes no sense at all, it's to weak and not that special. And I still think Updraft Tower should be a regular building too.

2) I'm not sure how to make the correct prereqs for the Osmotic Power PLant. It has now Coast OR River while it should have both. I could make it "River and Tropical Coast OR Coast OR polar coast" but a) this looks ugly and b) you don't need to build it AT the Coast, just have toe Coast in Vicinity, which is also odd. Any ideas?
 
I think you check off <bWater>1</bWater> and <bRiver>1</bRiver>. Because I think that's how the Fishing Traps work where its an OR and not an AND when both are checked.

I'm wondering how to get AND to work^^
