pre-release info New Civ Game Guide: Mexico

pre-release info
Someone in other of my posts said something about Malintzin and now I think is possible the maya and mexican leader is gone be the same person so...

This is where the Era Civ switching shows its strengths I think. We always had Aztecs, but never Mexico. Now we can have both!

In the same line, I'd love to see Italy as a Civ at some point.

A constant revolution and celebration of it, sounds like a fun civ.

It's interesting to note two things:

1. Mexico doesn’t receive an increase in settlement limits, encouraging the civ to play tall, which I somewhat expected.
Isn't that half of the civilizations? They should still gets the increases settlement limits anyone can get with new tech for the age. I wouldn't say all civs that don't get the extra are encourage to play tall.

Most civs receive at least +1 settlement limit. I recall Khmer, Aksum, and now Mexico not getting any. Of course, the settlement limit can be increased in other ways, and players can still play wide if they push for it. However, if the civ's abilities don’t provide a boost, it becomes much more challenging.

You're right, I had the impression only a few have them but checking it is correct most at least get +1.

I think that for Modern Hispanic South America they will go either with Argentina or Colombia. Both of them can transition from Spain and from the Inca. After all, the Inca had territories in Argentina and Colombia/Ecuador and there are still Quechua Indigenous people in both Argentina and Colombia.

It would be cool to see the Mapuche return in the future, as well as having the Muisca in the Exploration Age.
Those are great guesses and would be excellent choices too!

I like seeing Mexico in the game and generally like how it is presented. For example, I like the focus on celebrations.

What I'm not keen on is locking them into a single government type, and Revolution at that. Aside from the non-game implications (which people are free to ignore or pay attention to based on their own preferences), from a strictly game perspective I dislike it. Giving Mexico reasons to want to stay in Revolution is one thing, but hardcoding it so you can't make any other choice seems ham-fisted and, more importantly for me, deviates further and further from the idea of Civ as an alternate history game. Nope, you can't have a democracy in Mexico, just not allowed, 'cuz the dev team doesn't want you to be able to do that in your game.

Desert, Plains=/=Flat,
Plains/Grassland/Tropical/Desert/Tundra...
Those are base Terrains so you can have plains-hills or plains-mountains

Mexico is like 70% 'mountainous' terrain, on par with Austria, so an additional 'Mountains' starting bias wouldn't be out of place. But given that they don't have any actual bonuses towards the mountains, it doesn't make sense from a gameplay perspective.

The music is a little bombastic at the start, but overall I like it.

I'd probably agree with you, except that aren't governments in VII just the flavour of your celebrations? Isn't that all they do?

I guess Benito Juarez won't be the Mexican "leader" in Civ7, if they get any. I prefer Juana Ines de la Cruz to be a leader instead of Frida Kahlo. But I guess Frida is more famous.....
