The crosses, on the other hand, I can't find a source for.

The “crosses” represent a flowering water lily.

Apparently this motif was on the robe of king Darius I from a depiction at Persepolis, but I can't find the exact relief.

Xerxes I also has it on a relief from Persepolis.
