Newt: Every Human Should Have a Gun!

European countries are fully grown-up. Or at least, they are no more children than the US.

On the contrary; European countries are more left-wing than the US, and leftists are predominantly those who think that people should never grow up and government should be the parent throughout their whole lives.

The USA has 16-year-old girls setting world records for killing huge bears with just a bow and arrow, while the Greeks are demanding more money to piss away on smoking pot in Germany's basement. Nobody here is fully grown-up, but the USA probably comes closest.

Whoa! Now hang on just a minute. You can't just bring out great issues like this in one fell swoop.

Or is this irony?

As much as I find your analogy hilarious and most awesome , I'm not entirely convinced that wanting the government pay people to smoke pot is any less adult than a childish glorification of killing big beautiful bears for sport.

Now that is obviously not the essence of your point , but when it comes to picking apart quotes and avoiding the essence of peoples posts......well let's just say I did learn that method somewhere :mischief:

On the contrary, I'd call Europe far more mature than Schoolyard Bully America. Or should it be "can't make a single decision" America? "Doesn't know how to compromise" America? "The only country to still use Communism as an insult" America?

Europe surpassed us in maturity in the early 50's. We've never gotten it back.

America late for WW1. America late for WW2. America not late for Vietnam.

(oh no, oh no, this is too provocative - help me, I'm drowning in satire/irony/exploding brain syndrome)

So who do you think Newt thinks should have more guns, the Real IRA, or the Continuity IRA? (I would imagine that we could rule out the pinkos in the INLA.)

Rule #1: No talk about NI

Rule #1 has always seemed to me a very useful rule.

That would be because we are far more similar than pride on either side cares admit.

But that's exactly the problem.
China and India are different cultures with dfifferent histories and development paths and a different mindset.
China and India are alien.
America is similar enough to fall into a cultural uncanny valley
It's our culture and they are doing it wrong. The heretic is always worse than the heathen.

Right, and non-leftist want to let poor people starve and let the strong oppress the weak.

What did the bear do to deserve this :(
Even if I wanted to kill bears just for fun I couldn't do it. They are extinct in Germany because former generations were too badass.

So who do you think Newt thinks should have more guns, the Real IRA, or the Continuity IRA? (I would imagine that we could rule out the pinkos in the INLA.)

I say we give guns to all the militant islamists, the often talked about extreme left and the brushed-under-the-rug Neo-Nazis and let the problems take care of each other.
Of course there will be significant collateral damage and thousands of innocents will die, but real men just don't give a crap.

1955. The Vietnam War began.
1964. Significant US combat operations began.

Oh yes. Cos, of course it was the French reluctant to let go of empire.
And the Americans initially supported Ho?

Psh. You've never actually been to Europe.

I have spent all my life in Europe. I've never been to the US, though.

I wouldn't be unhappy if it stayed that way.

Go on now. I admit it. Will you? I should be proud to admit it.

But that's exactly the problem.

Sorry, didn't check the boards much yesterday.

I think Europe is awesome. Not sure I would want to live there, but I certainly wouldn't hold it against anybody across the Atlantic for sharing the exact same opinion in reverse.

Really, all I wanted to do was make fun of your scarf-wearing men. Even that is lighthearted and I can appreciate the flair/comfort. I just never got used to wearing one because it would probably get sucked into a piece of machinery and kill me if I did.

Correct. But I HAVE been to America, and I can firmly say that I don't really like the attitude of a good almost half of the country.

I get that. I was just giving a reason for general Europe/USA bickering.
And what's with the scarf thing ? Is this now a stereoptype for Europeans ? The only guys I see wearing a scarf when it's not necessitated by weather are hipster types. It's a very small and borderline insufferable part of our population.

And while I'm at it, I only ever see men -European or otherwise- wearing a man purse on American TV shows.
