NHL CFC Playoffs Pool III

I feel dirty for wanting Nashville to stay in Nashville

WHY COULDNT IT HAVE BEEN COLUMBUS?

Ottawa in 6

I don't feel dirty at all though. The Sens represent (to me), well, nothing. The Habs have no real history with them unlike the Leafs. Saying Leafs in 6 would probably kill me on the spot. It's a good thing I probably won't have to say it for a while with the looks of things. I hope Furgeson signs Smyth or Drury or someone who could change the face of that franchise. He'd be nice to have a three-way thing (not the good kind mind you) with T.O., the Habs and the Sens.

You miss the good old days of the Habs/Nords rivalry I bet. I miss cheering on Les Nordiques to spite the Habs. :D

The Tor/Ott rivalry still hasn't hit the steam that the Mon/Tor rivlary has, but it's picking up.

It hurts be to pick Ottawa (though picking a team named after a cheesy Disney film is pretty painful too), but I really think they're going to do it. I was going to pick them in 6, but so many people are picking them in 6 and since I'm in last place I might as well be a bit bold about it.

@Syphsus - why not cheer on the Quebec Nordiques in the NWHL? (I was REALLY shocked when I found out they existed - as the nordiques.)

OR you could be like me, and root on the successor to those Nordiques, who picked up the Canadiens BEST goalie TWICE (though Jose spent too many nights in paris rather than in the gym.)

also, I AM CANADIAN!!!

@sys- What about all the playoff series they've had?

It's not a rivalry until Ottawa finally beats us in the playoffs for once. ;)

Did not know about that, do they still have the platform shoe crest? That was the second best hockey crest ever (1st being the classic Vancouver rectangle stick and puck).

The Avalanche and Nordiques are two completely different entities in my mind.

Actually the NWHL in Québec is called, get this, the Avalanche!

I miss the Nordiques more than one might think. Before becoming a Habs fan by default, I was a Nordiques fan first and foremost. I grew up with Peter and Anton Statsny and Michel Goulet before my all-time favorite player (Joe Sakic) showed up. The Habs are probably the best second choice in the history of sports though.

I am really not going for either team, so this is a hard decision- two very good
teams.

I'll say Ottawa in 6 as my 'guess'.

Sweep? ;)

and oops, I could have sworn it was the nordiques. even better. Quebec avalanche.

Guys, the Ducks actually have a pretty good team.

There is no way Ottawa or Anaheim win in 5.

Yeah I know, but I'm so far behind I might as well go for the bold pick and hope by fluke I get it. Even if, I'll still finish last, but on a high note!

I am, after all, the same one who at the start of last year's playoffs picked Edmonton to go to the final. :D

The RNG also picked the Oilers to go to the finals last year. ;)

I dont believe that the RNG is truly random. I propose a test.

:dunno: Like I said earlier, I have absolutely no idea who to pick here. I'm picking Ottawa basically because everyone else seems to be picking Ottawa (by everyone else, I don't just mean everyone else here, but everyone else everywhere I visit). I was going to pick Ottawa in six, but that's what everyone's picking, so I picked Ottawa in five. It doesn't mean I believe it's going to happen.

That said, I wouldn't have picked Ottawa over Buffalo, New Jersey or Pittsburgh in five, and those all happened . . .

Columbus is a much better hockey market than Nashville. It's a metro area of 1.7 million people with no other major league sports, OSU hockey draws well so there was already built in support for the sport, and it is the only NHL team in Ohio. Plus they don't do the fang fingers there.

I want to change my prediction to Anaheim in 6.

It's a kind of insurance, if Ottawa loses at least I get some points. If Ottawa wins I don't care about not getting points. :)

Ok, this time, I mean it for real:

I gots to tell ya, I don't know why the NHL schedules 2 weeks off between the third round and the Final.

Thanks to the doofuses in charge, I will miss games 3-4-5*-6*-7* of Ottawa's lone Stanley Cup appearance... The series could be done by now!!!

Can we get updated points?
