France wasn't invented until the 1780s, and the moat was already in place by then. England, however, had already been there for a thousand years by that point , which to me suggests to me that the rest of the Continent built it to keep you out.

Well, if you put it that way, the moat was there when England was ruled by the Romans, who not only already had that moat, but then had to go build an extra wall to keep them fellers up North out

There was a shooting at a LA coffee shop....
atleast the cops didn't kill five people in five days like they did in Anahiem a month ago...the murderous "protectors" should suffer the same fate as a real murderer....
(EDIT and before you say I'm trolling I was beat up by undercover cops when I was 12 for looking like I had coke in my mouth...it was lays potato chips...)

When I say "European-wide",
"Hey lets all bomb this little nation (or mostly- make minor contributions while we watch it being bombed)" isn't exactly what I am talking about. Gangrape may concern all parties, but there is still only one party screwed. If we pick up your criteria, was the invasion of Afghanistan and later Iraq perhaps another small world war? A lot of nations involved after all.
No, I think the word "war" suggests a little more in such context.

I really dislike the ubiquitous term 'shooter'. It comes across as something you'd find in a video game. After all, we don't hear that the police are still searching for a 'stabber', do we?
But we do hear about rapists, abusers, stranglers, muggers, etc. Maybe I should just let it go.
Besides, I'm not sure what I'd replace it with.
