None Shall Pass [Game Thread - Concluded]

Actually, I have worked through my VC:

Let's analyze it piece by piece

1. LotR Cult completely eliminated. Everybody gets to check this off.

2. ELIMINATE one of
a. SW Town
b. LotR Town
AND have as many or more members as the REMAINING faction.

If we lynch a LotR during the day and I convert a SW townie at night, I won't trip the second part until much I COMPLETELY eliminate one of the towns. That won't happen until either all of the LotR town has been lynched out or the SW town has been fully converted. Since there are 5 LotR townies left and 4 SW townies left, and I'm not night-killing anymore, I'll be able to finish my conversions before the last LotR townie dies. And all the living SW win.

Or you can lynch me and let the LotR town win.

Even if everything unfolds as you claim (with no unconvertable townies or any other upsets), we should spend the two real weeks of boring days and uneventful nights waiting for you pull this off, piece by piece?

At what point are we forgetting that we're actually playing a game?

That would be up to Zack. In either direction the lynch goes that will be true, Either SW slowly lynching out LotR or LotR lynching out SW. In the interest of saving time it would probably be best if he compacted everything into one more update that concludes the game, but that is completely up to him.

Either that or he could shorten the phases. Have it be 24 hrs standard and once everyone gets their votes/orders in the phase ends

There are a number of ways to prevent a complete snoozefest, but I'm more interested as to why people are willing to vote their faction into annihilation, just so that the players can register a win.

Is that whine in front of you?

Go home, Sauron, you're dead.

I just want to come back from the dead and eat everyone's brains.

vote: Stuck in Pi

Hm?

:backstab:

SW: Very well, but live with the consequences. Remember, if Vader wins, then SW have lost. Not only have you lost, but the evil have triumphed. Do not betray me now. This is like the movies all over again, everyone coming to the Dark Side "because the Jedi are powerless."

One more time:

Vote for Vader.
I was assuming Vader wouldn't actually hit the LOTR cult, and that after we lynched him today we could spend a couple days lynching LOTR players trying to find the last cultist until we had a vote majority.

With the elimination of the LOTR cult, I am left with two choices; kill Vader and lose for sure, or vote for a LOTR townie and have a shot at winning.

So, working from the above:

No, they don't. Vader neglected to point out his victory condition, for obvious reasons.

He can't. Some of you will lose.

If you don't vote for Vader, even if he is telling the truth, that's exactly what you are doing.

In fact, going from Zack's quote, SW Cult wins the game tomorrow morning if you lynch me today, rather than Vader. Welcome to Lynch-or-Lose, people. Any other questions, SW Town, before you throw away the game simply because Darth Vader tells you to?
What are you talking about? One of the last two factions needs to be eliminated for SW cult win, and I seriously doubt you are the last LOTR townie. Vader needs 4 nights to convert everybody. It will take 5 days to lynch the remaining LOTR town, exactly enough time to convert everyone.

I may have misread the victory conditions, but at least I'm trying to win for my faction, instead of for myself. If you want to play "Star Wars: The Surrender", that's your business, but I'd far rather play to my faction's victory conditions and come second, than deliberately spin out the game, hoping to be converted, and thus score a personal win.

Otherwise known as "it doesn't matter what happens to me, provided that they all die", right?

The idea that I should have more interest in killing myself for something as arbitrary as "My faction" when I have a chance to win is dumb. There is no way for "My faction" to win anyway, there is literally no point in playing to win with my faction because my faction is guaranteed a loss. How does helping your faction help my faction anyway? A loss is a loss, and a loss to LOTR town is the same as a loss to SW cult, if we were somehow deciding things by our faction.

I don't think you get that SW town is playing Star Wars: The Surrender, no matter how we vote today! Literally the only thing we can change is whether or not we personally win!

What happens to me is that I win, I am losing nothing by doing this while having everything to gain! Helping your faction because it has the word town in it is stupid! Helping your faction because it's what "My faction" would do doesn't even make sense, because I'd be choosing which enemy wins either way! Both lynch options are counterproductive to the SW town cause, because we have effectively already been eliminated!

there is literally no point in playing to win with my faction

Then there's no point playing at all. If your entire game strategy is "be converted", then you have already failed.
