Because I'm Z0MG mean!
Round 2: Rebuild (1875-470 BC)
In this round, we karate-kick everybody in sight.
So, the main objective of this round is not to have an exciting round. This round is all about the build-a-blocks, and as such, I haven't many screenshots. A forest fire here, a self-destructing mine there. No, the first thing of interest is this:
So you'll see a couple things here. First, I got writing. Yippee! Libraries are being built for precious scientists. Second, we're pretty well the first to it. Not a super tech rate on Emperor, eh? Third, we found that good city and block off Cyrus from anywhere north of Iran (hooray!) He still manages to get to West Siberia though. Fine. Have it. I'm interested in North-East Europe myself.
Next, this:
Uh-oh. Do not like. How did he get Alphabet like that? Where is this research land that he's making this off? Mesopotamia I suppose. Darn.
We will bury him.
I can't remember if I gave it to him or not. Does it matter? He's Cautious either way. And the bonus (or demerit) wore off by the end of the round- and he got Bronze Working anyway. So this was one of the few things that had absolutely
no effect on the game. Except that he has Alphabet. Damn.
Anyway,
#1. Stupid pathfinder.
#2. I'm gonna found that city. It will be a GP farm. Woo-hoo.
NEXT!
I settled him in St. Petersburg: Clearly this was a game-breaking decision and there's no possible way I could lose now and I am absolutely glorious and I am the best person ever and I will be elected World Dictator next Tuesday.
Ahem. Sorry. So what happens next in our Russian Runup?
Well gee, I wonder how that got there
Yes, it may well have been a stupid decision. Yes, it may have been better spent on military. But it's
big and
shiny! And big and shiny things make me happy.

. Plus, with all the Scientists St. Petersburg, Rostov (double-pig-fish), and Berlin are giving me, this will be a good investment. In the long term. Hopefully.
Well, that's the high point really. All that follows is pretty banal. You can stop reading here, but you'll kill a kitten if you do so.
Cyrus founds a Cytie:
Seriously Cy? What use is there in that pathetic city? Just to cut off my trade routes (actually I OB'd him, but still). Worse, look at Gordium to the east.
But it seems to be paying off for him:
Ouch. Don't worry, it gets better!
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAPPENS FOR 200 YEARS. What fun!
Then:
Woohoo! Free religion! What I do with it is another matter. Caesar is militarily mighty, and maybe I could turn someone against him with Confu. We adopt Caste for a turn of Anarchy. I used Slavery... once. On a granary. For 1 pop. Russia is not that great for food.
Turn later, I trade for IW. I can't recall from whom (Hatty. CoL for Poly, something and IW), but it involved CoL.
Arbitrarily, I end the round there.
What did I do this round? Well, I discovered Writing-Maths-CoL-IW-Alphabet and many miscellaneous techs. Which is good. I ran scientists in St. Pete, Hamburg and Berlin, which is also good. I got a GP, which is also good. I founded the excellent Tehran city, which is also good. I founded the Pigs city, which is also good.
And I built the Pyramids.
So here's the Motherland:
Military (3rd behind Cyrus and Caesar):
Moscow:
St. Pete:
Palace building as I want a central capital that can operate both into Siberia and Scandinavia (and Europe

)
Julius (eek!):
And finally technologies. We got out of that Cyrus hole and we are 2nd, behind Hatty.
So, thoughts? Criticisms? (I'm proud, myself

) Here's the save:
