NOTW XXXIX: Impending Retribution Game Thread

Well, at least I won't get nightkilled…

What an interesting afternoon...
A good thing I reserved my vote for later.
The case against Diamondeye seems pretty strong, so why bother. Other people have time to count votes and over/under, while I don't. So do what you will with that.
Of course the crate will go to Captain Methos, too.

Hmm, interesting developments indeed. I'm going to need to do a little vote counting before I can decide which way to go on this.

In other news, do we have a full set of repairs lined up? Gotta stay ahead of the damage.

I think it's about:

Diamondeye: 25
Everyone else: <2

"Seems the commander has been mistreating my lady, I GET VERY ANGRY WHEN SOMEONE DOES THAT!! You know what the French did with their leaders? Off with his head! Prepare the guillotine for Diamondeye."

"Right, Nictel, while you have still failed to make a proper case for your own innocence you're off the hook. For now.

Seems like we have a bigger fish to fry right now with Commander Diamondeye trying to get our Explosive Ordnanceman killed."

OOC: I posted last just before going to bed. I'm back, hopefully in time.

Sir... are you antagonizing the late Captain and sympathizing with the rogues he killed? Are we not trying to do the same here? We are trying find and kill saboteurs and rogues, after all.

In other news, Sprig's explanation seems plausible, but yours does not, sir. You seemed to be trying to raise support for the saboteurs earlier on, but when this position was questioned, you quickly did an about face concerning the saboteurs.

Also, Commander Diamondeye, sir? If the explosives in Sprig's possession are reason to incarcerate him, why did you only bring it up once he accused you?

"To adress your first point; I am not antagonizing anyone who does not rightly deserve it. I was Captain Whitover's right hand, and I was there when he was interrogating the witnesses. I saw how he handled the situation - and it was not like a professional soldier."

"Comparing our stories, my story comes up as roughly this: 'Sprig has a bomb'. Sprig's story, cutting to the bone, comes up as 'Sprig has a bomb but allegedely has a really good reason to have it'. I... I admit his story could be true, but I for one don't want to run the risk of it being a lie to cover his true loyalties. When I talked to Methos and Renata earlier, we agreed that they should try to convince him to let go of the bomb, or he should face the lynch. When I came back later
((OOC: Just before bedtime)) I had not been told of any development in the situation, yet none of them had spoken up against Sprig."

"I figured that meant I had to be the one to do it if we were to catch him before he could hand over the bomb to an unknown party
((OOC: Only happens at the ends of phases)) so I came forward with my accusation. That he had talked out against me proves nothing."

"Finally, to add the sprinkle on top, while you were all busy saddling up the bandwagon to execute me, Sprig passed me this nice little note... Let's see what it reads..."

Sprig said:
I thought you might have shown a bit more restraint than that.

Still, Perhaps i should have risen as well. considering I had just requested the captians permission to vig you.

Thats just too bad. I would have had more fun doing that i think.

"What I gather from this is that Sprig can - or has access to through his team - murder. And that he was going to tear right through me with that demolition charge at the next opportunity. If it hasn't been made clear, this vote is either him or me. If you choose to lynch me, make sure you remember what I've said when the evidence indicating my innocence turns up."

Its interesting how you sat and discussed with us regarding sprig, yet a bit later upon threat of your own life, you turn tail and "change" your way of thinking. I was under the impression we had come to a decision regarding him. What I'm beginning to wonder is whether you, Diamondeye, want the explosives and realize that very quickly the explosives will change hands, meaning you lose control of them. Is that the case, that by posting it publicly you hope to gain control of where the explosives go?

"... Which threat upon my own life? We agreed to make a move against Sprig if he did not deliver the bomb. That is the agreement I made with you and Renata. That is the agreement I am now keeping up despite your reluctance to do so."

"Your second point is contrived and narrow-sighted. YES, I want the bomb out of Sprig's hands. I thought common logic would dictate why that is reasonable. It's because we are being attacked by saboteurs. When I rummage through his stuff and find a bomb, it's only natural to doubt his allegience, I'd say."

Methos said:
In fact, you seemed rather angry that I wasn't informing you how things were proceeding. I told you it was being taken care of by someone else and then I took a nap.

"... Of course I'm angry I'm not being informed! For the first many hours of my asking you about it, your response to 'why does sprig have a bomb' was 'why should't we lynch you', mixed with personal abuse. I didn't step down, and you finally gave me a brief version of the same story Sprig has now revealed. I'm not saying it's implausible, really, though it is, I'm just saying it's not worth the risk."

"Whoever was handling it on your behalf made no move at all, and did not bother to inform me. Before going ahead with the accusation, I even tried contacting whoever had been present at our conversation, but none answered. I defaulted to reacting on instinct. Instinct being 'get rid of the bomberman'. A sound instinct, I think."

What's also interesting is Diamondeye knew from earlier regarding Sprig being a bomb disposable role, yet he still tossed Sprig out amongst the masses with just enough info to hang Sprig? Wow, let's see. We have a possible prophet scanner and what does Diamondeye do? He sets him up for a lynch! Way to go townie! :sarcasm:

"I knew, in the sense that you told me that he had told you it. It's not like I've seen any proof of it. It's not like you have seen any proof of it, according to yourselves. So inasmuch as it could all just be a clever lie, I know it as well as you do."

"Okay, I can understand why you're angry about possibly costing us a useful person. Well, execute me then. It's not like I can investigate who has what items. Because that's not useful. Just throwing out here that I've been investigating for two nights, and I've found out that Sprig has a bomb, and Rhawn has a powerful weapon."

"I'm not a possibly useful person. I'm a guaranteed useful person. Sprig could be useful. Or he could - the simplest solution to carrying a bomb - be a saboteur. I'm surprised the crew is even listening to you argue his case."

Let me clarify, I've known about it since early on. Sprig came to me when he realized I was definitely going to be Captain. DE only learned about it last night. While I informed DE I didn't fully trust Sprig, I've also known since the beginning and note, he's had those explosives since the game started and he still has them.

I still don't like that DE knew that Sprig is a possible scanner, yet DE only tosses out the info about the explosives, knowing full well that everyone is going to vote sprig because of the explosives. DE doesn't bother to state that he's hanging a possible scanner. I'm surprised more people don't find DE suspicious about that single fact.

"... Everyone sure did vote him, huh? And people don't find me suspicious? Go on, Brutus, twist that knife. I am baring my breast here already. When you find the heart of a patriot beating within, you know who has my blood on their hands. It's Sprig, Methos and Renata."

"I knew you had said that Sprig could disable demolition charges. Of which none has been used yet. Seems useful. You hadn't told me about any scanning apart from that."

Haff ju bin trrainet vy Doktor JoJo, mein Herr?

Diamondeye, then Seon, then Blackstone.

Neither of them have so fart. Both on the bandwagon, hummm… within the enxt half-hour. Fishy, fishy, fishy.

"Look at it in the light of my innocence once I'm dead, kid. You're going to have to alter that impression of reality a bit."

"In closing, I don't trust the Captain further than I could throw him after this tantrum about getting me killed. I don't want any items to go to him or Renata or Sprig."

"Winston Hughes can have the items instead."

(I just wanted to mention that I'm really sick and if you're waiting on a PM response from me it'll have to wait a bit longer. Sorry.)

I will have to agree with the reasoning for DiamondEye

OOC: I have been incredibly busy. Does this party thing mean we have 24 hours of no night phase, or are we going straight into day?

I know that Duke blackstone is innocent, so we should lay off him. I have put my trust in diamondeye earlier and I would be annoyed if he is found t be a saboteur, since he was the one that game me access to the hangar. Unfortunately I cannot vote for due to that, so hopefully he is found to be innocent, but the case does seem to be strong against him.

Methos can have the crate again, but he should give me some tools and Secura can have the weapon.

"Kennigit, Classical Hero, out of pure interest... You're saying that 'the case against him seems strong' and refer to 'reasoning' for my hanging. Would you please summarize these for me, seeing as I am unable to infer any other reason than 'The Captain says so' from what has been said thus far. Not enough reason to convince so many of you, I hope, or the Retribution is going to end up at the bottom of this blasted ocean."

I would rather see Diamondeye in the Brig than over the side, so I will abstain for now.

Commander Diamondeye, you tried to get a sailor punished by not telling us the whole truth. Some of us might have dangerous jobs, so we need to have full trust of our commanding officers, and unfortunately you lost that trust with what you tried to do, thankfully we do have a commander who is in charge and trustworthy.

I too have lost whatever faith I once had in Diamondeye, however, I'm not convinced that execution is preferable to imprisonment here, so I will drop my case on Darth Caesar and point out that nictel may still deserve some examination.

OOC: I do not think nictel should be put in the brig or executed, but I think it may be better for Diamondeye to be brigged than shot, and nictel, by my count, is the second vote getter

I take that back, you say nictel is the second highest vote getter? I still suspect Sprig until we find out if Diamondeye is really guilty, but better the brig while some more investigation can be done.

I will go along with Nictel as the second most number of votes, but only because I want Diamondeye in the brig.

Do you honestly expect us to believe that, recruit?

Diamondeye should be executed tonight, not put in the brig, and that's for a reason independent of the case against him, sprig, or anyone. I've already suggested this to some in private, but this would go whoever our top vote-getter was, because if we go straight to the next day and nothing happens at night due to this party, we're stuck with exactly no new information by putting someone in the brig. Then we'd essentially be wasting a day of voting and having to decide to imprison or execute again tomorrow. So if we intend to execute anyone, today OR tomorrow, we should do it today and then we'll have feedback and can consider our course of action tomorrow.

Then there's just the fact that Diamondeye has also not answered for any of the things that make him a suspected rogue, his case above was pretty empty, so I'm still entirely sure he must answer for his wrongdoings. It's the best case we've had so far and all the evidence points to Diamondeye's crimes as much as we could ever expect to get evidence on anyone.

Do you honestly expect us to believe that, recruit?

Yes. I have not even read the arguments leading up to this closely, I have skimmed it and I saw that the vote was between Diamondeye and no one else in particular. Then I noticed some would rather brig him than kill him, and since votes are needed to do that, it's basically the only way I can be helpful at the moment, because my brain is fried.

But rest assured, I'll gladly vote for you tomorrow. ;)
