NOTW XXXIX: Impending Retribution Game Thread

You are asking a retorical question right>>? you know that thing that flies right>?
There's no one who can fly it except me. Why else would I be so picky in choosing who to teach?
Or, you know, the lifeboats we have stored away somewhere. Can't forget those.
We still have lifeboats?

Well, we've been bombed many times, I'd be surprised that the lifeboats -which usually are kept on deck- would have survived… is there enough room for everybody in case of a cat<strophe?

Does anyone know how to turn on the sonar? IF you can, then please contact me and I will get you to contact someone who can give you access to the area you need.

I doubt it, my guess is that whoever disabled the sonar did so on purpose for this moment. I bet they arn't coughing it up anytimes soon.

Hadn't thought of that. But Earthling keeps talking about pieces that are missing. It fits with something Renata told me about conduits. Was this that case for the Aegis defence system as well?

Yup. The Aegis needed a motherboard; the conduit needed parts. I had both the parts and the skills to make the repairs (same with classical hero and the helicopter, I think), but the other systems haven't been so easy.

Wasn't the sonar disabled since day one ? I honestly can't remember.

You're begining to get on my nerves Earthling. You aren't going to get anywhere by patronising and dictating to the other members of this crew.

The girl's right, though. If we go the long way, there's no safe haven in port for us to save us from the rogues. It will take too long. They will overwhelm us before we get there unless we kill them first.

I'm going to hold my decision on which way to go for the moment, because I believe for me it ultimately depends on whether or not CCRunner is put to death (or brigged again). As far as I can tell he did do his promised repairs last night, and I am tempted to force him to continue to do so as a condition of his extended survival, much as was set up with Nictel when he was under suspicion. I'm not sure how comfortable I am at going through the mine field if he is dead. We had seven people doing repairs last night. Nictel gone means six. We lost another to a promotion; that can't be compensated for immediately. CCRunner gone would mean only four ... not much margin of error there even without the mine threat.

I think I'd like him to live until we can be more certain of him, one way or the other -- that, or don't go through the mine field after all.

I am going to go with the short cut. Like others have said we have a good handle on repairs, and the ship is down one saboteur, but we still have no idea who the rogues are. Giving them an extra three days is just crazy.

EDIT: Didn't see Renata's post above, but I'll stick with this for now.

Anyone who wishes to see the Photograph, please send a PM to myself and Backwards Logic, this will hopefully speed up the process of viewing. You must respond back to me what you see.

I will be available later on for discussion, and to make decisions.

Rhawn, I'd like your explanation for what happened yesterday.

I think the possible reasons for Rhawns mistake should be told to the rest of us.

Renata can have the nuclear override codes for now. As I promised yesterday I suspect Earthling of being up to no good. Rhawn deserves some attention as well, but it looks like others are already on top of that.

I'd also like an explanation from rhawn.

Rhawn and classical_hero have some explaining to doooooooooooo.

You know, some of you should really be deeper thinkers than that. Let's say rhawn is a saboteur. He makes it blatantly obvious that he can detect something that might get some of the rogues. The rogues kill him for it. My oh my ain't that some good strategery.

Now let's say rhawn is a rogue. He accuses someone of having killed who obviously (in retrospect) is NOT a rogue; as a result he's gotten himself a half dozen votes and risks death by lynching. Also some beautiful strategery. Even if the rogues a) know Darth Caesar has launch codes and b) really want launch codes -- why not just get him lynched for suspicious behavior/shirking his duty and not draw attention this way? It wouldn't have been difficult.

So. He offered an explanation. What do you all think of it?

Also: Kennigit -- classical hero? What's that about? Frozen -- Earthling? What's THAT about?

Camikaze has been making his presence known just about every day, but is making a virtue of accusing people who have already been safely accused by others.

Spoiler :

post 58 -- fluff
109 -- methos for captain, TLO (who was absent) for vote, on basis of being absent
245 -- captain's revolver wasn't used to kill whitower, crate might be dangerous, seon might have been trying to turn love into a killer as easily as the opposite
298 -- methos can get the items after all, Frozen in Ice for vote with no reason given (Frozen already has three votes at this point, all for different reasons, Camikaze mentions none of them and says he might be willing to change his vote later if a better case comes along. Why not CCRunner, Camikaze? I'd *just* mentioned how CCRunner had shirked his duty the previous night, after all)
680 -- OOC mention that he had been away for a week, sorry for inactivity
695 -- why not just execute Nictel instead of brig him, since the brig tells us nothing that repair would not. Lots of "we" here, "we" have gone off Nictel. Doesnj't want to give Ekolite the rifle, crate to methos. Is not voting for Nictel, however.
709 -- votes Seon, no reason given. (he is the third vote on Seon. Darth Caesar also has some votes, as does Nictel) items to me and Autolycus
772 -- happy to vote for Darth Caesar on rhawn's word (mid-bandwagon), items to me and Methos
840 -- advocates for (but doesn't vote for) the long way around; votes rhawn

With the exception of the day one "accusation" of TheLastOne, there is not an accusation in there that didn't get made first by at least two other people. Explanations are largely missing, not even getting the benefit of a "me too" to other people's reasoning (Frozen and Seon). Where explanations are given (such as with rhawn today), they are dubious and shallow. In addition, Camikaze often fails to follow up on or outright accuse the people he DOES suggest might be suspicious (Seon on day two, but he votes for Frozen; Nictel, who he seems baffled by why people are not following through on lynching on Day Five, but votes for Seon). This is possibly the largest "tell" that villains have -- they want to cast suspicion on other players, but their knowledge that they are wrong (or likely wrong, in a situation like this) makes them hesitant to follow through. They pressure one person, but then hide their accusation somewhere else. Camikaze is doing this.

Item votes, with the exception of one vote of the navigation override key to Autolycus, go universally to "innocent leaders" Methos and me. Rarely anything requiring any real decisions. Again, he's largely keeping things very low-key, very safe. Hiding in plain sight.

(About that "we" thing I mentioned, this is a theory of ATPG's, that non-innocents will often over-use the word "we" in a subconscious attempt to blend in with the rest of the players. Camikaze doesn't do it except in that one post about Nictel, but it sort of stands out there. "So we've gone off Nictel today"? "we should execute him not brig him" sort of thing.)

Finally, I happen to know that Winston Hughes questioned Camikaze and was suspicious of him on the night before he died, on the basis that Camikaze claims to be only a "vanilla" seaman, with absolutely nothing special about him, no special talents, no interesting items, nothing. I'm not aware of anyone else here who has claimed such a thing (but please somebody correct me if I'm wrong), and I find it suspicious in itself. I'd be accusing him anyway, though, on the basis of his record of statements to date.

End Morning Phase Seven, Start Midday Phase Seven

Journal Entry Number Twenty. 13:00 shipboard time. Six Days to Port.

The day started fast and furious with accusation votes cast about with conviction. Earthling and rhawn all were tied in the voting thus far, the former for being domineering, the later for Darth Caesar’s death. CCRunner wasn't far behind with two votes to his name. The item votes weren’t as contested, in fact some items had received no votes to them yet and most others only garnered a small amount of interest.

The hot topic thus far had been what route to take and the discussion that went with it was volatile at times. Those arguing for the short route reasoned the ship could be repaired faster than the mines could damage it and would speed the ship up enough to prevent the Rogues from taking the ship. With the ship’s sonar still offline, the counter argument was sound stating striking the mines was all but certain and taking a few extra days to avoid them was the prudent course of action. At this point, the votes leaned toward taking the ‘scenic’ route, but there was time for this vote to be swung the other way.

Autolycus is not going to get that Nuclear Launch Key, so Renata. Container to me, Air rig to Izipo

that about? Frozen -- Earthling? What's THAT about?

Frozen had a stolen item, traded it to CCRunner for a weapon and that's clearly not suspicious y'know, and wants me dead because of my Innocent ability. He clearly hasn't explained himself or what he's done or intended to do with anything, and if he's just not on CCRunner's own team of traitors, had no compunction handing over items for a vague purpose like "messing with the nuclear reactor". And Renata, I believe both you and were trying to get the items from CCRunner/Frozen back to Nictel, right? Yet they refused to help Nictel, who was Innocent and should have been our nuclear repairman if anyone.

Also: Kennigit -- classical hero? What's that about? Frozen -- Earthling? What's THAT about?

Well, I think I was mistaken on classical's rank ability; or at least, I really haven't heard any word from the helicopter folks in a bit (but today they have spoken up) and that had originally been classical's goal.

Regardless, I shall vote for the short way

Steel to izipo

Those are very strong points Renata.
