NPR fires Juan Williams.

'Cause she's ugly. Besides, I found her comments more offensive.
And what if we find his comments more offensive than hers?
Are we now in the wrong because we don't view the world through MobBoss's glasses and instead are able to formulate our own opinions and take offense and what hits home closer to us?

I would like examples and evidence of Islamic Terrorism in South America.

It doesn't matter if Irish or/and Basque Terrorists didn't hijack a plane, they're still terrorists, something which Williams used as an excuse to explain why he is adverse to Muslims.

I couldn't care less if you are old enough to be my dad, you've shown increasingly as of late that you are unable to debate in a manner that fits your age, which you've just used to some gain leverage against me. Perhaps it isn't me, for once, that needs to grow up.

Bigotry and Discrimination do not always affect people in a physical manner, it can be words, certain views of certain groups of people and general social reactions to those different groups, and in this case Williams violated at one of those, the different reaction and that is enough for me to look down on it negatively. You might be okay with such things, since it is easier for you rolls your eyes and ignore it, but I will not ignore it, even if it is the easiest option to take.

And whilst he may of thought about it, after he released his own personal views on the matter it has become fair game to criticise him, as it would be if I said something similar, of if anyone else said something similar. Don't try to dress it up as something it isn't.

Google is your friend.

Here is a question you need to answer: how active are irish and/or basque terrorists in comparison to radical muslims?

If you can answer that honestly, you will get your answer as to why Williams thought what he did.

Rofl, it wasnt me that started calling names......well, perhaps I am debating as fits my age then I guess...

Were any words spoken to the muslim on the plane?

I dont think over-reaction is the answer either....and more than a few libs/lefties seem to think NPR over-reacted in firing him.

Don't try to dress it up as something it isn't.

I'm not, but I think you are.

Point taken, but the reality is that Islamic terrorism is not as "global" as certain groups would like you to think.

Again, if it has indeed occurred on every continent of the world, how is it not global? Sounds to me like your just in denial of the obvious here...

I get the feeling this whole thing is a setup to attack NPR. First, they get some idiot like Jaun Williams to go on The Factor. Billo does his thing to stirrup controversy, getting people to say stupid things that O'Reilly knows could get him fired from NPR. Then act outrage when they do fire him so that the conservative attacks can proceed. The whole thing is just a big setup to attack what is perceived as a liberal news organization.

Never attribute to malevolence what can be explained by incompetance.

There were a number of Irish terrorist acts committed as of late and ETA had it's own little bomb going off last year.

Were any words spoken to the muslim on the plane?

Way to quote mine bro. Here's the full quote:

Just imagine if he said it about Christians or Jews, imagine the backlash but against muslims everyone is relatively silent.

There were a number of Irish terrorist acts committed as of late and ETA had it's own little bomb going off last tear.

Now compare that to the number of Radial Islamic terror attacks the world over.

Whats the ratio?

More name calling? Wow.

Just imagine if he said it about Christians or Jews, imagine the backlash but against muslims everyone is relatively silent.

You know, if he said such a thing about Christians, it wouldnt bother me. At all. Its so minor as to be beneath my notice honestly....

Ahem.
And what if we find his comments more offensive than hers?

I am not talking about your personal response.

In reply I guess people have a right to have as thin a skin (or thick) as they desire....

And of course everyone is also entitled to their own opinion....

But not all opinions are equally valid...

Sure. So then why should your opinion be more valid than ours?
How is "I'm scared of people who look like Muslims on planes" different from "Jews shouldn't be in Palestine"? Both are idiotic comments that shouldn't have been said.

Where did I indicate that it was?
Telling us that we are all wrong and that NPR is a biased left-wing media source that is stifling free speach?
Instead, is it so hard to comprehend that NPR fired williams because he had violated parts of NPRs standards and that this had happened numerous times before?

No, because the liberal media is a massive entity which is evil

Well, thats the point. Its not perceived that way....at all.

Cutlass, if it swung the other way, and the common perception was that it showed a conservative bias, you would be all over cutting its funding. We both know it too.

But since it does not show a liberal bias, the point is false and useless. No news organization is as fair to both sides as NPR.

1) Can you make a legal argument justifying his firing given that after years of going on pundit shows, he suddenly fired for going on a pundit show? That part of his contract clearly seems to have been waived due to non-action on the employers part.

2) If the firing is for what he said, can you make a legal argument justifying his firing given the examples listed earlier in this thread of conduct tolerated by NPR?

The legal argument is that if someone has broken a company policy, been counseled against repeating it, and continues to do it regardless of further warnings, then that person has made the choice to be fired.

Political Correctness is killing free speech.
I wish people would stop using this term like it actually means anything of substance.

Thank you. It was popularized by Rush Limbaugh in the 80s as a way of justifying bad behavior. Today it's a generic term used by people who get their panties in a bunch whenever they're called teabaggers instead of tea partiers.

A long time ago being "politically correct" was called "having good manners."

Moose, can you even tell me what you mean by political correctness and how it's impeding peoples' First Amendment rights? I already know what you mean by killing free speech. Killing free speech translates into English as "not everybody agrees with my point of view."

But since it does not show a liberal bias, the point is false and useless. No news organization is as fair to both sides as NPR.

You're conveniently ignoring the fact that objective reporting demonstrates a clear bias against the alternate reality in which most conservatives live.
