Oh, the weather outside is...

Good brand, I think I'm using 30 year old models and they seem to work just fine once the gaskets get some love/replaced.

My mom has taken to a little chipmunk live trap, I got desperate and had to do that too for the colony of invasive grey squirrels that had chewed into my bedroom wall. Caught 18 of them and a cat before I got the ones out of the house long enough to plug it and cover it with wire. I didn't even bait the thing.

How are your fruit trees coming along this season?
You know, I have spent so much time in cars since moving here that the thought of going out on roadies (sans alcohol) to explore the rural hinterlands just doesn't have the same appeal as it did in Illinois/Missouri. I don't go looking and I don't live near enough to the orchards to know the answer to that question.

I kind of miss that but there are new, equally interesting things to track in my surroundings here. Unfortunately you have to go really far out from where I live to find a spot where you can memorize every trail and dirt road. And there are no flood control leeves to follow. :(

Rain, sun, wind, calm -- If you don't like the weather here, wait five minutes.

I came in mid-conversation, and I'd be embarrassed to tell you want I surmised you were talking about.

42 degrees is nice?? It's hotter outside your body than in!

Add snow and hail, and that's how it goes here.

It was hot and sunny most of the day, but we had a nice, brief thunderstorm tonight. Everything is a bit cooler now.

Apparently some people around here like to bake... excuse me... "bask" in what I'd describe as "the blazes of hell and damnation itself"... they find it pleasant somehow :dunno:... different strokes for different folks I guess :)

It's a completely dry heat and it feels kind of good so long as you aren't out working in it. I spent the day grilling and in the pool yesterday and it hit 112 so it was pretty much perfect.

I'm not saying I want this weather forever but I'm trying to roll with it. I have stopped walking to work lately partially due to the heat.

Weird night last night.

After I went to bed an onos wind roared in--from dead calm to "holy hurricanes, Batman" in about 15 seconds . It lasts for maybe 15 minutes, then quickly fades away. :dubious:

Later I awoke to light pouring in. Dawn already?? I looked out my window to see horizon-to-horizon clouds but light everywhere. It was a full moon. Middle of the night, and my house is casting a shadow.

But for that, I slept straight through...6 hrs. straight. I never do that; rather it's up & down all night long like a nocturnal yo yo.

Weird night.

Our monsoon has begun!!

well, unlike south Asia where they have real monsoons, ours is a bit tamer. Mid July through the end of August produce about 4 inches of rain total during summer thunderstorms which can double our annual rainfall. It rained last night for a few minutes and today was overcast.

Was about 96F with high humidity today, and then some late afternoon heavy showers.

Birdjaguar, I read about your return trip from China. Wow, that was epic. I believe you're now #2 after Odysseus. :eekdance:

Welcome back :)

Gross humidity with intermittent rain. Forecast claims thunderstorms "likely", but the last three times they said that nothing happened.

Kiddo is having a spate of being terrified by tornadoes/thunderstorms. He's watched people check the weather on their phones/computer often enough that now when we're working outside he'll hear some piece of equipment far away or a truck bed "boom" on the highway and he'll ask if it's about to storm. I'll stop, look around and say "no." He'll look at me dubiously and ask me to "really check." I've got enough visibility to see the curvature of the earth and the kid wants the screen to tell him it isn't raining. Interesting days, these days for our youth!

Sister in law got me an Amazon "Dot" for Xmas. Since then being woken at 6AM by kids standing next to my bed shouting "Alexa! What's the weather today?!" has become a daily ritual :cringe:

Damn you technology! Damn you all to hell!
