Looks like we got about 30"/76cm of snow. It's about 14F/-10C as the Sun's going down. Went out to shovel, lasted about 10 minutes before my fingers were too cold. Now they've got that itchy/burning feeling.
Almost 500-mile-long lightning bolt crossed three US states An almost 500-mile long bolt of lightning that lit up the sky across three US states has set a new world record for longest flash, scientists have confirmed.
The bolt in 2020, extended a total of 477.2 miles (768 km) and spread across Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.
The previous record was 440.6 miles (709 km) and recorded in Brazil in 2018.
Lightning rarely extends over 10 miles and usually lasts under a second.
Another lightning flash recorded in 2020 - in Uruguay and Argentina - has also set a new record for duration at 17.1 seconds. The previous record was 16.7 seconds.
"These are extraordinary records from lightning flash events," Professor Randall Cerveny, the World Meteorological Organization's (WMO) rapporteur of weather and climate extremes, said.
According to the WMO, both records took place in areas prone to intense storms that produce "megaflashes".
70 of those degrees is quite optimal temp and anything above should be cut off & saved to be used as a boost on days when temperatures are dramatically lower than that. We also apparently have the technology to shape the weather as we please. I learned that on Brainfart comment section years ago.
In general temperatures between ~75-150F are useless as the minimum functional temp for sauna is ~150F. Obviously that's not enough for a proper sauna experience but excellent for recuperation & relaxing muscles. Oddly enough I have had only limited support with this view.
Outside it's just above 0 C on daytime and -10 C at night which is excellent. Nothing is wet and the snow is hard enough to carry the weight of a man, even me.
