My best guess is she's going for a senate seat to get in position to grab the national/international experience people went after her about last time 'round. If Obama crash and burn, then she may make a 2012 run, but otherwise I expect her to get a senate term, then switch to a presidential run for 2016.

Or else she's stepping out of politics because Jay Leno and friends really, really, really disgusted her of politics. It wouldn't be necessarily a surprise, given Leno's comment, and much as I hate Palin and the opinions she represent, it would be a shame. Those opinions deserve having their voice, to. (If only so we can boo them loudly)

That might be true if she weren't going on a speaking tour in the lower 48 and campaigning for other candidates (those who will have her, which is definitely not the Republican establishment).

Not to mention everyone and his brother will question whether or not she would finish a term to which she was elected.
