People who think they are God

I met one once. You may heard of him. His legal names was Vernon Howell. You would know the name David Koresh. He was doing a guitar service at a nursing home (for people too old to work). My reaction was, "Who is this hippie wannabe?" Weeks latr he was national news.

What about people thought by others to be God, e.g. Ronald Reagan?

Виссарион from this video is pretty well know cult leader in Russia, he even wrote a letter to Putin. Real name is Sergey Anatolyevitch Torop. Born on Jan. 14, 1961, he has a beard, flowing robes, body guards and, yes, since 1991 he gained more than 10,000 followers, even in places like Germany or USA. Those clustered in Siberia (4000) live completely without money, primary schools and interference with the state. There are unconfirmed reports of people disappearances and sanctioned MFF threesomes. On Russian forums regular orthodox Christians are protesting that State allows the sect to illegally expand on Federal lands, Russian government seem not to care much.

Maintaining a harmonious community of several thousand people over a long time is a most demanding and difficult task. If that is the case, I'd have to give him kudos for that. Greed and sex are powerful motivators that can undermine the best of intentions and keeping those in check is a daunting task.

I'd be curious to read his "Last testament", but couldn't find it on line. Two other points not working in his favor are that he doesn't seem to mix with his followers, but stands aloof. He even lives distant and secluded from them (as depicted in the video). And the retro Jesus look doesn't really to work for me. I would have thought that god coming again would have adopted a more international look that fit better with our global culture. Unless of course he is only here for Christians and not the other 6 billion people.

Funny, I was just watching this video in the background (a hippie friend linked to it on FB) as I opened CFC OT & this was the first thread.

Speaking as a universalist, terran nationalist, and part-time promoter of global consciousness, I 100% endorse this message.

"Burn the witch!"

Now, where's my nail polish?

edit: Here's a, somewhat, related video discovered by Mr Domen.

Someone totally needs to ship Vissarion and Shotbolt.

that doesn't mean Jesus is god, it means they agree - Jesus' message comes from god

there are too many cases of Jesus speaking of his father as another being

Quite frankly you have to add that to the text, since it isn't there. There is no word agree in the sentence, but John 1:1-18 clearly states that Jesus is God.

For what it's worth, in that whole video, despite its title, I didn't hear Vissarion claim to be Jesus. He borrows the traditional iconography, but seems to want to be his own man.

I just found the juxtaposition of his taciturnity and her loquaciousness amusing. She scarcely took a breath. And forgot to finish painting her nails!

Vissarion claims to be a reincarnation of Jesus. He teaches reincarnation, veganism, the impending end of the world (or at least of civilization as we know it), and the belief of aliens. On August 18, 1990, when he was 29, Vissarion claims that he had a revelation that he was the reincarnation of Christ. He first spoke publicly in Minusinsk on 18 August 1991.

(I'm not sure what the "belief of aliens" might be. Presumably it's a typo for "belief in the existence of aliens.")

Vissarion has two wives, and six children from two marriages. He rejected his first wife and married a nineteen year-old girl, who had lived with Vissarion since the age of seven.[7]

Vissarion has a sister named Irina. Vissarion considers Mary, mother of Jesus, as his own mother.

This is all entry-level nuttery, imo. But what do I know? Maybe this is all nothing but the bare truth.

This man thinks he is my son Jesus Christ? Lol, no he isn't, what a faker. Because I am my own son Jesus Christ.
