Political Cartoons XII: Car Companies Collapse and Swine Flu Shenanigans

Vikings were brave and skilful soldiers, explorers and sailors. It's a bit harsh to associate them with Republicans.

Yeah, that reminds me of that cartoon where Darth Vader is insulted at being associated with Cheney.

Why does Obama look like he's pole dancing...

Sigh...this health care debate cannot end soon enough. Some members of both sides are even using allusions to Nazis.

Anyway,

Those are good except I don't get the first one.

The fish (Iceland) is getting caught in the net (European Union).

Interesting...I believe you've just redefined 'first' to mean 'last'

I believe Huayna Capac was referring to the cartoon with the girl by the fire and the hand in the cloud.

Also, that Thomas Jefferson cartoon prior has to be the worst excuse for a political cartoon I've ever seen. It's not relevant to anything; you could replace Obama, Pelosi, and Reid with Limbaugh, Steele, and McCain, change their buzzwords & catch-phrases, and it's just as meaningful (and still garbage).

So?

So what? I was stating my opinion on a political cartoon posted in this thread, not drawing conclusions. Other than it sucked. If you don't care about that opinion, more power to you.

@GoodGame: I love seeing historical political cartoons, but it would help if you could give a few details for each picture or at least the year they were printed - w/o context it's almost impossible to understand some of them.

I have no idea what this one is about, for instance. From what year is it?

Edit: Oh, wait, I just saw the caption 'It is a New Deal' which I had formerly thought belonged to the cartoon above it - so its about Roosevelt's inaugeration, I guess.

But you see the difficulty....

I could've sworn I read "last". Must have been edited.

That aside, time to post some more cartoons.
