Prediction Thread

I've said this elsewhere a couple times, but if Trump loses the election, he's going to flee overseas before March 2021 to avoid the US justice system, be it New York State's or the feds. He already changed his address from NY to FL, but I don't think he'll risk it after all the commotion this past year.

A secondary, less-confident prediction is that Putin will knead him for information and then extradite him to the US for the lulz.

I need shore up my success rate from zero. Therefore, I predict:
  • TSomeone will, perhaps a Republican or a Democrat, win an elected position where the outcome is as if yet contentious.
  • Some people will still enjoy sports, or computer games, or both.
  • Something that is in fashion now will eventually go “out of style” and something else will become more popular.
There! Can’t screw those up!
You did, in-fact, still screw up... "TSomeone" isn't a word. :p

When I made my last prediction, I forgot to include that I believe Barrett will be the SCOTUS nominee and will be confirmed. I recall reading an article a while ago that listed her as a top choice based on her youth and willingness to disregard legal precedent in favor of personal religious beliefs.

Another prediction: Trump's October surprises will include another attempt at an Afghanistan withdrawal, plus forcing a ruling on Roe v. Wade with his personal SCOTUS.

I predict that Microsoft will utterly screw up at least some of the IPs they just acquired with the Zenimax purchase.

Prediction: starting in 2021, the death rate of US journalists from "accidents" and shootings increases at a statistically significant rate, and most, if not all, of the victims worked for outlets believed to be "liberal" by the Republican Party.

I found out that Florida is one of the states that begins counting mail-in votes as they arrive rather than waiting until election day. This means there likely won't be a huge lag in knowing who won there, assuming most voters don't wait until the day of the election to mail in their ballot*. I now predict that Florida will be called one way or the other on election night and if Trump loses it, he'll actually leave office. He may never officially concede, but with him (at best) still recovering from a serious illness and then losing by wide margin a key state, I think the party leadership will finally do the right thing and tell him the jig is up.

*I know that's a big if, but if there ever were a year where people get off their ass to vote well in advance, this is it.

Trump losing Florida on election night is one of those things that would definitely reduce the cries of election fraud. I mean Trump is still going to claim the election is rigged regardless, but if FOX News calls Florida for Biden, on election night, even if he is leading in the delegate count, all the networks, including FOX News will be stating openly that there is no way he can win, once all the results are in. So there's going to be way less of his supporters clinging to the notion that he could still win and thus less potential for the doomsday scenarios we've been talking about.

I don't think Putin would ever give him up as he'd be too useful as a pot-stirrer.

You mean Bethesda hasn't screwed up their own IPs?
A decade since a new TES game.
A Fallout game featuring a survival crafting system that nobody asked for.

He won't flee to Russia, that's ridiculous. Biden will pardon him and the entire moderate establishment's heads will explode at how GRACIOUS this gesture is. If he lives another few years he'll dance with Ellen on TV and Democrats will start thinking he wasn't so bad compared to President Matt Gaetz.

Biden can't give state-level pardons.

I guess he could pressure NY's governor to pardon.

Biden can't give state-level pardons.

You know, I had totally forgotten that. Still, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Biden pardons him for any federal crimes committed.

Also even if he gets in trouble over state-level crimes I'm standing by my other predictions. I doubt his jail sentence will be long or difficult.

I don't think Biden has anything to gain from pardoning Trump. So he won't do it. Pence would do it, certainly, but not Biden. In fact that was Nixon's strategy in resigning, he turned over the Presidency to Ford and Ford promptly pardoned him for everything. He couldn't be impeached anymore because he wasn't President, and he couldn't be held accountable for his crimes because he'd been pardoned.

Biden has been asked repeatedly if he will pardon Trump and each time he answers no.
And why would he? It would waste Biden’s political mana points. Ford came into office under a different set of circumstances, so people comparing the two are off the mark.

And why would Biden do it when Trump already did it himself? :hide:

That's my prediction, by the way, that Trump will issue a raft of pardons including most of his family and close business associates, and most of all himself. Resulting in a case that goes to SCOTUS in near-record time, and I like to think that it'll go 9-0 against Trump because even the originalist/textualist wing will concede that it simply never occurred to the founders that someone elected president would be so openly corrupt as to try to pardon themselves. And if that goes Trump's way, I then predict a constitutional amendment proposed and passing to correct the founders' lack of vision in that regard.
