Debit cards rock. Back in the Netherlands, I used to for almost anything except in bars. Germany doesn't seem to like them though :(
Right. Give me good old cash any day.

I don't even have a credit card.

I assume it's for United Statesian, as if that were a word.

I use checks for mailed credit card payments, cash for most lunch and dinner purchases (it's actually very convenient when splitting the check in some restaurants, and some of my favorite places don't accept cards), credit card for anything online (if my card gets stolen and purchases are made, I have the delay to challenge), and my debit card for ordinary groceries and stuff like that.

It used to be debit or credit card, but lately i've been concerned about the existence of a record of every item i've ever purchased. i've switched over to cash mostly now.

Really? That seems inconveniently paranoid.

And if someone wants to get interested in how many turnips I buy every year, I say let them.

it's not all that inconvenient at all, it's usually quicker than paying by card. and i quite like working out how much to give in order to receive a nice round number back in change. others might think it strange but that's not a good reason not to do something.

Cash, always cash(unless online of course). I only decided to get a credit card because a website wouldn't accept my debit card, the only other thing I used it for was paying for my driving practical and theory test.

Did anyone else when applying for a credit card get asked how they would pay off the debt if you lost you're job? I had no idea what they wanted me to say to that, I mean it would be impossible.

I find it a nightmare to work out, and I've still got a jar of coins I work through, from time to time.

The trick with credit cards is always, always to pay them off each month; there's no sense in doing otherwise, except in extreme emergency - which I really can't envisage. So I've always got the funds for any purchase I make using a credit card. I just use it like a debit card really.

Isn't it difficult to keep track of your spending when you pay by credit card? Because I have to draw my money I always check my balance, it helps limit stupid impulse buys

It's really easy if you do your banking on-line.

But don't you keep a record of what you spend, as you spend it? We paupers do it all the time.

No, and I would tell them I'd definitely pay them first. Err, second, after I spend all the remaining money on hookers and blow.

Balancing a checkbook is so 20th century ;)

It really isn't. It's called keeping ahead of the game and getting the most for your money, rather than give it to thieving bankers and evil capitalists. ;)

Aren't postdated cheques strictly illegal?

Nah, we are all swipe 'n go now. Get with the program, you have to give the banks tons of fees because PROFIT.
