PW-01: Holy word

definitely settle in place ~ we have to trust that the Legendary Builder did us right. although, if we can't get enough priests to get all 7 shrines, we'll know who to blame :D :yup:

Definitely settle in place.... I'm sure that our legendary builder put at least horses or cooper in BFC and I bet that there is a marble/stone for Henge/Oracle/Mids

For those away from civ computer, I should say that barbs are off, that Perm aliances are on, and that the map was continents before our map maker had made his weaving....

I like no barbs settings. Well no, if fact I love no barbs!
What I fear is permanent alliances

Btw, Imhotep, the AIs are still those voted ones ?

EDIT: It's Monarch  Well, with a start like this, it's a nice challenge :)

@pawelo:

Yeah, I took your AI list. But I was gracious indeed in choosing their starting locations...you might have fared much worse :D .

Imhotep

Definitely settle in place - assuming those are FPs and not that weird desert river thing I've seen in BTS (can't imagine it is!).

Thanks very much for a save Mr Imotep - looking forward to this one. :)

Well, what's not evident in that screenshot, is the tile underneath the settler is a legendary grassland floodplain. 5/0/1 out of the gate. This would be the tile to work, not that crappy oasis.

So unless that's a mistake, (which could be conveniently corrected by settling in place), we ought to move, probably 1SW. 1N is a possibility too.

I like that we didn't get exactly what we asked for.

Or if you prefer a guided version:

Our dear Egyptian engineer tricked us a little... Grassland FP under the settler, shame on you :p !

That makes the decison a little bit harder.... 1 N grabs mountains but retain the river. 1 SW keeps all visible resources on BFC but loses river.... 1 SW looks better, but as always move the warrior :p

Well, congrats to Zargon for spotting it. :) I thought you'd not notice it. :D But then: What's better than a SG with intensive discussions on the very first move already... :)

i think i like 1 SW most of all ~ work that 5foodFP, then oasis, then silver, still keep the same tech path. by keeping all those resource tiles, we can tech well, and still grow, w/o needing much improvement in the early going.

It would be a great shame to settle on it, but in the mean time we give up the river by going 1SW.

Without improvements, this tile enables us to work silver, gold and gems early on.
Therefore I vote 1SW, as Pholkhero proposed.

Techs beeline Mono, getting Meditation, Polytheism before.

Builds - warriors for scouting.

Do you agree ? Wish me to move this warrior and post the screenie ?

Wish me to move this warrior and post the screenie ?
no ~ PLAY! [pissed] ;)

on the other hand, 6 more posts and we've made it to 100 w/o a turnset

heh, I always play with the tile output turned on, so it stood out like a sore thumb when I opened the save.

In other news - we can see 5 resources, and they are all happy resources. Has anybody else got the gut feeling that there's no health resources on the entire map? I'd normally think nothing of it, but I'm not so sure I should put it past him so easily.

This originally came to mind because I was wavering on endorsing 1SW because of health concerns, thinking 4 floodplains vs 2 forests and no fresh water, but then I remembered that was an oasis. So 1SW it is for me.

edit: And I'm thinking go to size 2 or 3, then put out a worker to improve all that loot laying around the capital.

And yeah, just play, I can't imagine the warrior revealing anything worth changing our settling location for. And if he does, then you can stop and post if you wish, of course.

edit edit: Oh, we don't start with mining? Hm. maybe not a worker that fast then. Well whatever.

the good thing, too, is we can go Mining real fast, if we feel like we can chance it after the first 2 religions, and be able to improve all 3 of those resources at one stroke. plus, we'll still be growing when we're working all them and the FP . . . course, it'll be 1 food per turn, but . . .

Drums please...

Here we go for our start as Ramesses.

First of all, although it has already been said, this map is just plain great. You'll see pretty fast what I mean :)

On T0 I founded Thebes as we said - 1SW of the food paradise:

I sent the warrior scouting clockwise, and started a warrior in Thebes.

Few turns later, just after our initial warrior popped 32 gold, the border expansion popped us a nice surprise :

I don't mind if it starts like this :) We are blessed by gods (or the Light, or the Legendary Builder ?)!

Two turns later, the first piece of our master plan fell in place:

I settled not to convert yet - no need to lose a turn.
A warrior was finished on turn 10 and started his route south. I started a worker to match more or less the Mining planned arrival.
The southern warrior popped 32 gold, and a few moments later :

So far so good :) We are 17 turns in the game, and already have both religions. Time to start the Mining to get the best of those three magic ressources.

On the next turn, a northern goody pops us this:

Could have been better, but I won't mind. Gimme every worker tech possible :) AH, Pottery someone ?

Worker finishes 2 turns before Mining - what a timing, I am almost tempted to think it was planned like this in the Egyptian crafter mind ;) - just the required time to go to the gold hill.

Mining checks in the turn the worker is ready on gold. Start to mine asap.

Monotheism starts, and is pretty much speeded by the arrival of the gold mine :king:

Just in time for my last turn:

Hoho, we have the early three [party] :band: :bday:

Build goes on Stonehenge - no need to protect the capital. I started Priesthood tech wise for Oracle - no beakers invested though.

Our worker is two turns from mining the gems, and scouts continue to round the capital.

No AI met, and a nice bunch of fertile land discovered:

Any dotmappers amongst us ?
:)

Things are going pretty well I think, with a map like this, we are up for a great game :goodjob:

Sorry for the concise reporting - sleep time for me.
Happy to get it started!

Roster:
1. pawelo (started at last)
2. r_rolo1 (up for 15)
3. Zargon (on deck)
4. TriviAl (waiting)
5. Pholkhero (waiting)
6. stuge (waiting)

The wine marks the location that will erase all problems related to generating GPs.

As for our 2nd city, I'd say either 1NW or 1SW of the marble.

Depending on which way that goes, the 3rd city can either be the GP farm on the wine, or grab the gold mines in the southwest.

We should have no problems grabbing most of the early wonders, even while beelining the religions.

1NW of marble as for me - with industrious, having stone and marble in the BfC is just crazy :crazyeye:

We just have to stick the Wheel in between religious techs

I'm a terrible dotmapper :p , but I think that we have a clear second city site:
2ndcity.jpg

Got food potential + awesome prod + stone/marble for our wonders ( Oracle + mids ? )
