Random Rants ΟΔ: broken record

Car problems. The lead acid battery won't hold a charge and it takes down all of the electronics in the vehicle when you turn the car off. The car is a hybrid with a massive li-ion battery that is supposed to be able to give the lead battery a jump but this feature doesn't work. And before the lead battery died, all of the fancy sensors went haywire and the dashboard changed its language to French all on its own. I can jump start it but no matter how much I drive it, it won't hold a charge.

Other car problem -

There are a lot of sports cars in my building which means that every day our building is rattled by douchebags revving their loud as hell engines to close the fifty feet from our garage to the stop light. It's the same three or four guys that do this every single day and night right when we lay down for bed. It's really frustrating.

I haven't eaten for two days and I still don't have an appetite. I took today off from work because I'm just not feeling like myself. I know I'm not ill, it's just my nerves, this happens to me sometimes when I'm upset.
You're staying hydrated, I hope. Maybe some broth might help, so you'll get a bit of food.

As Valka said, at least get hydrated.
And maybe get out of the house? You've posted that you work at home, so perhaps you're cooped up? A bit of cabin fever?
Or this upcoming marriage thing?

Thank you both kindly, I'm starting to feel better and I've had some toast. It was my nerves, I've had a few things going on and I tend to lose my appetite when I'm upset.

I have another rank for today, with my new car purchase lol. Well my birthday is coming up in two weeks, and I need to renew my license, but it was transferred to my new car. Well I haven't heard from them yet, but they told me they would take care of it all for me. So I went down to my Secretary of State and asked what I need to do, and well I wasted a lot of my time, because she said it hasn't been transferred yet, so I had to call my dealership. And well he got back to me, and I had to drive up there and sign my title paperwork, and now they'll take care of my registration and renewal ... but I have to wonder, if I hadn't gotten on their case today, would they ever have done that or just let me expire and be penalized?

Based on my experience, I think public officials would never pass up an opportunity to charge you a little extra. :/

Drive the twenty minutes to the point where she could pick you up without going out of her way.

Being sensibe with my sister in a situation like this is pointless. She's made up her mind.

Or just suggest it to force her to come up with another excuse. ;)

I could force the issue. But then she'd be in such a snit all day that I'd rather not spend 4 hours in a car with her.

Car batteries don't last well in modern cars. And the battery is a place the manufacturer tends to go cheap to save a buck. If the car is still under warranty, then the battery should be too, and you could get a dealer replacement. If not, NAPA usually has about the best quality replacement battery for the price. For the rest, if it's available, make it a warranty issue. If not, you'll have to figure out how to do a reset to factory settings.

How much sabotage are you comfortable engaging in? :mischief:

Cutlass. Have you watched a film called ‘Keeping Mum’?

You definitely should. It features Rowan Atkinson actually speaking.

You just watch the film.

edit: oh wait you were making a joke

You have a nice job right? Buy a house. Failing that, find an apartment complex that's mostly old people since they tend to be pretty quiet.

Well aren't you a charmer.....

Anyhow hobbs, I can sort of sympathize but from the other way around! May car came with the TRD handling package which included exhaust tips to make the car louder. (Why, I have no idea. You are never going to get a good sound out of a four cylinder boxer engine.) I always have to try and avoid hitting the gas late at night in residential areas.

I have some boy on my street who likes to drive his really loud car up and down sometimes, I don't know why other than to just make noise.

I love when my new car is in electric mode and is whisper quiet :)

Did my post come off as abrasive? I really didn't mean it to.

Not abrasive, just...kinda callous and dismissive.

As I said, he lives in LA. It’s like asking someone on welfare if they‘ve ever considered getting a job.

Starter homes in Irvine are $600,000 and up.

Even if he could afford a house, there's a chance that the neighbours still will have loud cars.
