I miss my furry buddy.
:hug:That sucks man, I'm sorry.

Rant:
I shorted an 18650 li-ion battery and need to replace it. Amazon has de-listed almost all the 18650 li-ion batteries and the only one I found was $50 for a two-pack and was the wrong length. Not sure where I can buy them now.

Rant: I don't know what I did, but my right leg is having trouble bearing weight today. It doesn't hurt, just kind of gives out on me when I try. I feel silly using my cane in the house. :old:

It would be sillier not to use your cane.
That's absolutely bonkers that it's affecting you in Sudamerica, Takhisis.
It's more bonkers that the newly elected old government wants to drill for oil with such obvious evidence of global-scale climate change in their -literal as well as metaphorical- faces.

I hope I'll be able to sleep tonight.
Since roughly a week I only manage to sleep 4-5 hours, and the rest of the night I only snooze very lightly. I feel quite shattered. I guess the stress is to blame, with the move, the situation of my ex, and my own dating life
For tonight I'll throw in lots of melatonin and hope for the best.

I'm not sure I'd recommend self-medicating.

I don't count heroin as ‘medicine’.

Didn't they use to put cocaine in cough syrup? Or was that something else?

Coca-cola, actually.

And cocaine was sold as medication in the early 20th century, to the point that the name of their manufacturers/distributors Merck still endures in Spanish slang as ‘merca’ to this day.

Cocaine, Heroin, Opium- they put lots of things in places they shouldn't be in the late 19th century.

Yes, well, morphine is still used as a sedative in extreme cases (especially terminal ones) but the others are just poisons.

And funnily enough we have de facto legal marihuana as a definitely harmful drug but bans on its medicinal uses. If I didn't know our politicians were corrupt in every sense of the word I'd be wondering why.

Eh, medicine as we know it today was still in its infancy back then, so there was just a lot of experimentation going on to see what works. That's why I don't think we can judge the 19th century medical wackiness too harshly. If it were still happening today though, you can judge harshly because we know better now.

Heroin and other opiates are fantastic cough suppressants and were useful for treating tuberculosis and such which is why they were in cough syrup. Problem is, just a little too much of the stuff and you stop breathing altogether. Oh and the whole addiction thing.

Yeah, at least it worked, unlike a lot of older medical treatments. Like bleedings.

There is actually one condition for which bleeding actually works (I forget which), but yes, otherwise it's a terrible idea in any situation.
