Random Rants : Bloody hell!

Some parts of the world, like Europe and most countries which aren't stupid.

Thats how its is written in the UK.:goodjob:

That's how it's written in the civilized world. :p

Look, the ISO standard is

YY(YY)/MM/DD

USA simply takes the year and moves it to the back. Why do we do this? Because it is the least important unit of information. Everyone knows what year it is. Months tell crucial information such as season, proximity of holidays, etc. while days are useless entirely, being duplicated twelve times over every year. Knowing the specific day such as the 11th is absolutely, profoundly useless without the month.

Therefore, we end up with (unspoken YY)/MM/DD. Clearly the superior system.

It was below freezing this morning, with a high temperature of only 38 degrees.

We did not have any heaters to use today at the Habitat for Humanity work site. Last week it was not quite that cold but we ran both an electric space heater and a propane heater most of the day. Today we could only rely on a couple incandescent lightbulbs for heat.

(Actually the group ordered catering from Willie's, a Mexican restaurant similar to chipotle, which means that starting at lunch we would also use those little things that were meant to keep the food warm. There was also enough food left over for me to take home and have for multiple meals.)

It was really colder than recommended for painting, but we went ahead and primed some stuff anyway.

I expected the drywall finishers to have done their job before we arrived, but instead they were working at the same time as us. The volunteers and pros kept getting in each other's way (and the finishers had to redo one wall that a volunteer bumped into while wet), so we got less done than we otherwise would have.

Some supplies did not arrive until the volunteers were almost ready to leave, so we have more work for this Saturday than expected. We may not even get around to painting until the following week.

I came home to find that something had gone terribly wrong with our septic tank. There is nowhere on our property one can go to escape its horrible stench.

Our neighbor, who is a handy man, had just poured some highly acidic treatment into the tank moments before I arrived, which made it smell even worse.

I don't think we're allowed to use our water until the situation has been rectified, so I can't take a shower to wash off and warm up.

Only northerners should experience cold temps, cause they have animal hides to cover with and stuff and stay home brooding in the dark and misery :yup:

You silly soft Southerner. :D

Is that why your avatar is gone?

Is there, now? I thought 'Murica had grown a beard and wore a hat.
Thats how its is written in the UK.:goodjob:
Sadly, the rebellion in the colonies hasn't been put down and for the past 240 years they've been doing strange things.
<load of absolute nonsense>

Therefore, we end up with (unspoken YY)/MM/DD. Clearly the superior system.
You know, CFC lists your post as having been made on 18-01-2016…

ISO standard is nonsense?

At least we follow 2/3 of it, while you do nothing right.

Rant: bloody cold outside and not going to get any warmer any time soon. I wore 6 layers today.

Funnily enough, CFC is listing these posts are being written on 19-01-2016, but then we can't expect a country that uses Fahrenheit to get the date right as well. :mischief:

They have the colours of the Union Jack all mixed up, the poor souls. And they insist that wearing Canada as a hat is fashionable.

MM/DD/YYYY is objectively correct, because everything is objectively correct when done by Americans.
