*grmpf* had to hurry with some of the genomes, because someone was already working on them.
Did my best, the first of the first 5 are done.
Turns out 3 are crap, because they've apparently sent the wrong stuff to sequencing (or picked the wrong stuff...or it was mixed up...whatever, it's 3 times the same, and not what it should be).

At least that's less terrible than the screwed up metatranscriptomics set. More time, more money, but in contrast that doesn't directly affect me (...yet...*sigh*).

And I got more work dumped on my desk :gripe:.

See, we were supposed to get 5-8 inches of snow here.

    We actually got about 2.

Much more important rant: I lost a game of civ on Victory Points while trying to salvage a Culture victory. Eff you, Piedras Negras! Calakmul isn't a bunch of warmongering barbarians like your Caracol-oppressing so-called priests. This shall be avenged in the future. It shall be. The wrath of Kukulkán and Hurakán shall befall your city, and your might halls humbled. So the prophecy goes.

I'd just like to state categorically and for the record that hills are stupid and evil.

Ran a half-marathon in Atlanta today and the effing hills really took it out of me.

Nah, hills are just too politically correct - this 'equal amount of uphill & downhill' business is just nonsense.

Rant: local hills and flatter parts are still missing adequate snow coverage. I want my winter since summer is clearly over.

God damn it I HATE it when my mom tries to show me off to her friends. "Oh he's so tall/handsome!" they'll say and you may thing that's great but imagine having hundreds of elderly women fawn over you and touch you unsolicited while trying to feed you food after you've eaten already since you became cognizant.

@Borachio: If Leonel's really in his thirties, then those elderly people are… 60? 70?

@Perfection: you're right. It is free food, after all.

I have no problem with the downhill parts, those were great. You just had to lift a foot and you'd move forward. The uphill parts, though, really took it out on my knees. I haven't had joint soreness like that ever.

    I know that feel, brah.

Rant: Sigh. Biological and psychological needs do not mix well with isolationist preferences, as most of us here already know. :suicide:

I hate being a sapient biological life form sometimes.
