@Leonel: Just try to introduce her somehow. Doesn't have to be prepared for that. Most people will just get used to other people after they've met them.

That does sound like a good idea. I've been thinking that when I pick my dad up for breakfast, I'll have my girlfriend in the front seat and say to my mom she can just look outside at her if she wants to and if not, well that's okay too.

last tuesday my chemical engineer lab group was supposed to do an experiment.

one person, "kelly", didn't show up.

hence "brad" and i had to do a three person lab with two people. it predictably when bad.

brad, kelly, and i have to write this lab report of sorts, due tuesday, 1pm (it is currently 1:01am tuesday, fwiw). kelly sends out an email on saturday to do stuff for the lab report.

nothing happens until sunday night. i text brad, who has been holding on to all the raw data since the lab, who replies back "i'll get to you all analyzed and stuff monday afternoon"

i think, "okay, that sounds fine." monday afternoon passes by, i have class with brad 3:30. he says he had something crop up that's due at midnight so we can't get it out until 7 or 8pm. okay.

7 or 8pm passes by and brad still hasn't sent me his data. i text him. he says that his assignment due at midnight is taking longer than normal. okay. i start and finish all my other homework.

at 11:30pm i send a text to brad asking "WTH man". he promptly sends me a garbled mess of a data sheet. i've been spending the last 1.5 hours trying to clean up the spreadsheet and make readable graphs and stuff. all the while i've been talking with kelly, who said "i don't know if i want to do this lab report since i don't know what's going on."

me: "this is exactly like the last lab we did."

"still i don't want to touch it."

"goddammit kelly we have to do it." (sent at 12:14am)

still no response at 1:06am.

my group is a flaming wreck of incompetence.

Don't ever leave us again, tailless! We need you...

Yeah, go for the subtle, non-forced route. Your dad might be the most influential person there--your parents will probably talk about this after the visit is over. It kinda sucks to have to deal with that kind of racism up close.

Man, I had a couple peeps in my process control lab that acted like that. Bunch of amateurs.

Everyone forgot! Seriously, I left for two months and this place fell apart like Swedish furniture. :p

Stuff happens, brah! We need you to keep us on track!

So I curiously picked up Evil in Modern Thought by Susan Neiman from the university library, as I'm obviously curious in regards to the nature of evil. While staring down the front page of course, because it proudly noted "An alternative history of philosophy" and was oh-so Angloamerican; I was afraid its contents would suffer.

Its first paragraph was a tasteful question. Good.
Its second was about September 11th.
It eventually derailed into other more proper ventures but I'm sad to say that if she is representative of any kind of American conception of evil, I weep for your nation. She did include a short disclaimer about her opener, but it's borderline irrelevant. From 2002 of course, but. Ugh. I'm going to reopen it when the bad taste has left my mouth.

The How I Met Your Mother finale was really disappointing. Ugh.

I found out the hard way that I have a drug allergy.

You chose the wrong day to quit sniffing glue!

Your avatar! :run:

Also, your sleep. :(

Embrace the avatar-changing, resistance is futile. HALT! Zack-ninate!

The part of the course which I gave today was totally awful.
The rest of the course prepared by our department was also awful.
The 3 hours I've put into preparing course material yesterday were totally useless, because I didn't get so far (the rest of the preparations from my side were useless as well, but I'm not that angry about it).
God....good that this day is over.

Just reading that is stressful.

Ah groupwork.

I had some guy give me a few copied sentences from wiki-answers as his contribution for the entire semester. Needless to say he got destroyed in the peer marking.
