My muscles are being stupid and spasmy again and it hurts :(

Speak in Celsius you Fahrenheit-using nuffies.

Fahrenheit is based on people, celsius is based on water. Fahrenheit is far better. 100 is when it gets to the OMG its f'ing hot. 0 is when it gets to OMG it's f'ing cold. Much better than 37 OMG it's hot and -17 OMG it's cold. Not natural.

While I (a native Fahrenheit user) agree 100F is when it gets to the "OMG its f'ing hot" I -and I suspect many others - reach "OMG it's f'ing cold" long before 0F. 0C is "OMG it's f'ing cold" enough for me.

EDIT: "OMG it's Fahrenheiting cold?"

Fahrenheiting Fahrenheit users.

"watch out for the icy conditions tomorrow as temperatures drop below freezing tonight with some sleet or snow or ice or freezing rain expected"

--everyone in usa except the south usa/hawaii

totally natural

quickish edit: non SI units suck for everything, but the only proponent for customary/nonSI units is supposed practicality. But in temperature, people already commonly refer to freezing all the time. It's one of the units where it probably is more practical to refer to freezing. Rather than, say, feet/inches vs meters that could be practical to think in feet and inches rather than worry about precision of cms, or completely arbitrary (to humans) things like btu vs joules which have no real bearing in real life so it doesn't really matter. But btu's are dumb

Long live the most arbitrary temperature system ever devised!

We could always redefine things along the Hygro standard.

We can measure distances in terms of Hygro's height, weights in terms of his body weight, etc. Should work.

I am pretty sure 'Merica doesn't convert to Celsius because they know their students would answer falsely about what happens at 0 and 100 Celsius :snowlaugh:

ha ha ha it's funny because we Americans are stupid and don't know about freezing and boiling water

If only the temperature could stay -40 all the time if wouldn't be a problem as it's the same both in Celsius and Fahrenheit.

But then what if we want to go with Kelvin?

Did you hear about that guy who got cooled to absolute zero?

He's 0K now.

*studio audience laughter*

Farenheit is just pure <banned word>. Celsius or GTFO.

Less than 15 is cold, more than 30 is hot. Easy.

Or, you know, <10 is cold and >25 is hot.

As fun as a rocket conference is, I would really rather be home right now. I just finished unpacking from my internship and now I hit the road again. :(

Also it is 11F in Rolla and like effing 70F in San Jose. What do they call it when your skin is jet lagged from the massive weather shifts of travel? Weather lag?

It's called "it should never be summery in December"! (Unless you're those Australian and Argentinian heretics.)
