Sigh. This will kill the joke. Well, the earlier statement implies there's a joke, but to be fair, there isn't.

In short, Scots -> Kilts -> Hate English -> They want to secede!

Therefore, anyone who dresses as the Scots, i.e in kilts, also hates the English, therefore they want to secede. Until you demand secession, you won't be taken seriously, because, well, you're dressing as a Scot.

As I said, it wasn't a very funny joke. Or a joke, at all.
