It's called a portmanteau. It consists of fusing words as well as their meanings. It's also shorter in syllable length.

But is it really necessary to do it? Maybe I'm alone in this, but when people to that I think it makes them sound less intelligent.

that's rich coming from the nation that invented the XGate.

How am I to blame for that? Because some stupid people who aren't affiliated with me in any way, aside from living in the same nation as me, come up with some stupid words that means I'm not allowed to criticize any stupid words?

The point of language is to convey meaning, although people have also been trying to use it as a vehicle for snobbery for a very long time. Brexit and Grexit convey the meaning of "British exit" and "Greek exit" more efficiently, so taking the time to type out the whole words is imo what makes one less intelligent.

The Euros do it too often, you might even say they posses the quality of euroften.

Shots fired

My not-so-random rant: Dan and Brock Turner are pieces of human excrement who make me very very angry, merely by existing. Where is George Zimmerman when you need him?

I don't know why, but people using the words 'Grexit' and 'Brexit' to describe either Greece or the UK leaving the EU really bothers me. It just seems so lazy to me. I mean, is it really soooo difficult to say "Greek exit" or "British exit"? Or is it that people think they are being so cool and trendy by throwing out stupid little combo words like that.

"Brangelina"
Still hate that one, brrrr.

Tolni's suspicions of and disagreements with the American distaste for europortmanteaus and other europhobic remarks is a unique phenomenon rocking the Rants thread that warrants a clear, easy-to-use buzzword descriptor. Thus, I have coined a new portmanteau: Ameridistolni.

It has the added benefit of sounding like a delicious Italian dish.

Wait, Anti: so you want to eat Tolni?

I was just thinking it sounded more like a type of American-themed Russian Vodka... like maybe this:

And Russians should be attempting bourbon, shouldn't they?

Rant: You made me try the new Civ6 skin, Tolni. Oh my eyes! It is definitely not Black CFC.

Tan it up, dudes!

Now, seriously, warpus, why do you use that hideous CFC default skin?

You have a whole summer to remedy that.

The skin change threw me off. I like things that don't change. Like - I have been lurking in this forum for 8.5 years now and I'm pretty scared if anything changes.
