The subject is the one who does something, the object is the one to whom something is done.

Would that be because the subject is "I" and the object is "your mom"?

That has to be one of the most highbrow "your mum" jokes I've heard in a while. ;)

who/whom is actually fairly low on my list of things that native English speakers regularly do wrong that irk me. Our language has heavily deemphasized declension over the centuries, so it's little surprise when native speakers don't understand how declension works.

"Would of"/"Could of" etc. is top of the list for me at the moment. Followed by people using complicated/technical vocabulary and horribly bungling either the usage or the spelling. Followed by people who rant about other people "misusing" the word literally.

Grumble grumble, something rantish, stealth mentioning it's my birthday, something something.

Grr rawrr happy birthday growl hiss

We weren't really taught formal grammar when I was at school, so that's not actually that helpful in a hurry. :)

I can still remember my textbook's cartoon of a dog owner, whose dog had the torn shreds of another man's pants in his mouth. The bite victim was furious at the dog owner, and the dog owner had a superior finger lifted into the air was replying, "Bit whom.."

I'm so bloody sick and tired of how bloody inept I am at arguing for my positions

My data is too big, we don't have enough RAM on the servers, and I have again no idea what to do :gripe:.
(to triple the RAM for 12k is not really an option for something which we need maybe once per year, *grmpf* ; and also then not sure if it'd be enough)

Some dickhead working for Comcast keeps giving out my cell number to his clients. Because he is a dickhead, and because he works for Comcast, he gets a lot of people calling him to complain about late/poor service. And they all call me. And it's been going on for two years.
