Random Rants LXXXIX: I HATE MOVING!

It now seems very likely that my father's Leukemia has returned. He is almost 82 years old and had been in remission since his last round of chemotherapy almost 9 years ago. A CT Scan of some lumps in my dad's abdomen seem to be consistent with the doctors' theory that they are extremely swollen lymph nodes. (They are now doing another CT scan of his right ankle, which has swollen up to double its normal size.) That could have multiple causes, but cancer is the most likely. We're going to need to go to an oncologist for a biopsy.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hope it goes well for him.

I don't grill cheese sandwiches anymore. If you have a toaster oven, you can just use that instead. Although it melts the cheese better if you microwave for a very short time and then put it in the toaster oven. This is basically the same outcome, but without any of the greasiness on the outside of the bread.

ham and grilled cheese can be pretty good. Tru-blue classic grilled cheeses need American cheese imo

Just as long as it's never that sprayable cheese thing which was posted, if I recall correctly, by Lexicus…

I hate to say it, but Facebook's targeted ads have actually been relevant lately. Usually it's political attack ads, cars, real estate, or weird far-right stuff. Now it's eco-friendly products and things like local massage therapists.

I got a bill five months ago where a medical service provider filed the claim with our insurance incorrectly. Each month I call them to correct their misinformation and they seem to do it, but then I get a bill the next month because they didn't fix the issue. Today I got on another 3-way call with the service provider and insurance to try once again to get them to fix it. The next escalation is a lawyer.

It's literally an issue of the service provider writing 1245XYZ instead of 1234XYZ, over and over and over again.

I’m going to post as a rant though it could easily fit into the wellness thread: I get these pains in my stomach sometimes. I did take an examination and found no physical issue, so I’m certain it’s an anxiety or stress-related symptom. Further evidence is due to its onset occurring only at times of stress.

It is annoying.

I take anti-acid tablets. :D

Smart thinking! I should have taken a TUMS instead of an ibuprofen. I might pop one of those the next time and see if it has any efficacy.

Well... you could take Alka-Seltzer, which is both. Works well for me when I get a headache or reflux. They recommend two tablets at a time on the box, but I've only ever taken one.

That’s in my cold medicine repository. It’s a preciously-guarded item as it is not sold here in Japan.

I ended up taking two TUMS anyway because of heartburn.

I've never seen it in stores here, so I order it online. When I was in the hospital and getting interviewed by an endless horde of doctors, none of the young med students and residents knew what it was. All the older ones did, though.

I also try to minimize the amount of actual medicine I take, so that factors in. I suppose I could buy more, but it would be too much of a hassle and expensive.

You just took two TUMs and an ibuprofen! Three medicines! And you're saying no to only taking one instead!

I just dipped my toe in this far right internet chat board thing. The intersection of stupidity and evilness is kind of hard to believe. I would dismiss it as overtly stupid, but it really seems to be getting some traction. How some people here manage to regularly (I am looking at Tim here) go there I do not understand, it has made me pretty upset and will not be repeating it.

Our family dog has learned how to lie. He was sitting at the door, whining a bit, like he does when he really needs to go due to diarrhea. So I took him for a walk ahead of schedule. Turned out he was just bored, all he wanted to do is to go and provoke another dog behind the fence.

I don't want it to be 77 degrees tomorrow. I want it to feel like fall.

<cries>
