But in my experience trade unions are borderline criminal organi- oh.

Oh, about anti-theft, there's already some for now isolated incidents of people pretending to be utility company technicians or such in order to gain access to dwellings and steal from people. :wallbash:

I don't know. I think it's an anti-theft deterrent.

I think in Canada there's some law or another where you don't have to show them the receipts if you don't want to.

This is ancient news. The new thing is gaining access to people's homes by claiming to be from the health department doing in home coronavirus testing. That way you get to knock on the door while already wearing gloves and a mask.

This is not a new thing. Thieves have done this for decades, usually to case the place to see if there's anything worth stealing and to ascertain what security there might be (alarm, dog, etc.).

Exactly. If memory serves, either Marketplace or Go Public did a feature on this. It caused quite an argument on CBC.ca, because Costco demands to see receipts. Apparently the difference is that Costco's customers signed a membership contract giving the staff the right to examine receipts and search the cart.

Ah. No fingerprints and difficulty identifying them.

Well, at least there's not much chance of that here. Entry to this building is by electronic keycard and we have our own security people. The manager lives here, too, and he's working from home these days (everything by phone or email). We even have one of the plumbers who's a resident (though they won't come out unless someone's pipes have burst or there's a flood for some other reason).

Rant: Somehow this was fourth result when I googled "FocusWriter themes."

Great. A stupid spam site.

I don't know.

voted that I dislike the title but it's more that I don't particularly like it, I think it's up to par on how the titles usually are

Recruit @Marla_Singer to help you. I believe she does speak passable French. :)

Is Steph still around? He speaks French, too.

@RRRaskolnikov speaks French and is around here somewhere, waiting for the next mafia game to start.

I can certainly help, but there isn't much I can do for a while till the whole France is confined. I can translate mails though...

Thanks guys :).
The translation will probably also not end up being a problem, but I had already 2 agencies not come back to me due to missing documents (like the tax form of last year, which I simply don't have for France).
Also half of the time the people don't read my email, where I state that I don't speak French. How do I know? Because they end up calling me of leaving my voice messages in French .
Ah, well, at some point it will work out.
I also expect people being a bit more desperate when the whole thing is over, maybe that helps .

We're getting snow on Tuesday. Oh come on, it's the end of March. :(

My landlord announced they are going to offer some sort of rental assistance program starting next week to help those that are laid off. I'm going to wait and see what the terms are before complaining about pool and gym access. If they are really going to help my neighbors out with generous terms, then I don't mind continuing to pay for the amenities if that helps subsidize my less fortunate neighbors. I half expect their assistance program to be a smokescreen and completely useless while they begin to evict people, but I'll withhold judgement for now. My city is resisting calls to halt evictions because the city council is in the pocket of developers and rich households. I know that probably sounds cliche but it's absolutely true of my city and we have several ongoing legal and political battles based around that fact.

:(

My province has banned all evictions for the time being.
