My province has banned all evictions for the time being.

My city recently passed an ordinance designed to force out all of the students from the local UC campus from the town. I'm not even kidding - they passed a flagrantly illegal ordinance that makes it illegal to cohabitate with anyone that is not a blood relative or 'long term family friend'.

The title itself is an expression coined by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, when he became annoyed at an Opposition member one day in the House of Commons. The reporters tried to pin down exactly which un-Parliamentary word he had uttered, but he told them it was "fuddle-duddle"... and that has since become part of the Canadian vocabulary.

It's not like he hit his thumb with a hammer. That would be a one syllable version. This was an in parliament, directed at someone version, so four syllables would be about right. Just imagine yourself face to face with Donald Trump and allowed to say just three words.

I think there's something in the news archives about this. The main thing is, everything said in Parliament is recorded in Hansard, and if Hansard doesn't record it, there's no official record that it was said. So that let Trudeau out of any parliamentary consequences.

Justin Trudeau, on the other hand, did get into hot water some years ago when he was a backbencher, and called Cabinet Minister Peter Kent a "piece of s***." (Kent totally deserved it, as he berated Opposition members for not attending an international conference that then-Prime Minister Harper hadn't allowed them to attend in the first place).
