I've sort of accepted that a few "keep faced turned and get by as quickly as possible" moments are just a burden that has to be borne. If I can manage it I squeeze off a fart in the process.

Rant: this dumb site for now two years in a row fouling up the old April 1 avatar switcheroo. Funnest thing about the site. Back when it was a thing.

I mostly hated the avatar thing. I think the biggest missing fun thing is limericks by a certain poster who seems to have gotten lazy...

Is that right? Well, I'll try to get back on the job. I've had the closing line for one about the briefings in mind. Let me go see if I can work it out.

Ok, here goes:

I know your intent is to nix
All our fears, but with Trump in the mix,
I'm sorry to say,
It's not working that way,
I'm afraid that I'm still s***ing, Brix.

I did my own thing. Not posted before sundown in order to lull @Synsensa into thinking I'd stop posting. Surprise!

Well done @Gori the Grey! I see how that last line came to mind first.

I liked your previous avatar a lot better. Poorer quality, less detail on this one.

Limericks most foul,
"Hardly a poem," I scowl
Give me a quatrain of rhyming sound
Where joy and pleasure can be found!
:)

Quatrains, say you? So, a while ago in the Role Playing Game thread, I committed to an elegy for pewter miniatures. It's not done, but I'll give you a taste.

From dungeon trudge we, feet and hearts of lead,
Our grievous burden, O, our woeful charge,
Poor key-cold figure of the king that’s dead,
His mail now useless, useless now his targe.

His corpse we wrested from that darksome hole
Only that we might rest it in another
And pay some share of his deserved dole,
Our leige and leader, fellow-wanderer, brother.

Had grappling hook found purchase, he’d have climbed
As safely from the gaping pit below,
As scores of prior scapes, narrowly timed.
This time, alas, he failed that saving throw.

And then I'll go write you a funny quatrain. Well, this poem is funny in its way, but a real funny one.

Ok, I'm back. Here we go:

You're in good hands, all you who've found
This site, and linger here,
'Cause its fool's fooling isn't bound
To just one day a year.

Jason Kenney is a ghoul.
He's something, but forum rules say I can't use that kind of language. Same with the Ministers of Education, Health, and Social Services. There's not a shred of empathy to be found among any of them. And that's before the pandemic. It's worse now.

I have no idea if my rent was paid today because I don't know if my disability benefit was deposited in time. Guess I'll find out if there's a late notice taped to my door tomorrow.

Who's Jason Kenney?
Premier of Alberta. He fired thousands of healthcare workers and then tried to pin the blame on other people.
Kenney is the POS who cheated his way into the position of leader of the United Conservative Party of Alberta (he fired the Election Commissioner investigating this, but it's an open secret that he lied and cheated).

He used to be in the federal cabinet. One of his finer moments was denying a Muslim woman the right to take her Citizenship Oath because she wanted to keep her niqab on. This backfired on Kenney, though - she sued the government, won, and the fallout of this happened during the federal election of 2015. Opinion swung away from the Reformacons, the NDP lost support because the leader upheld her right to wear the niqab, and their Quebec support swung to the Liberals because Justin Trudeau had the good sense to keep his mouth shut about the whole thing.

As for the health care workers... they were about to be fired, but that was put "on pause" because the pandemic came along. Last I heard, they're still going to be fired, but not until they're not desperately needed anymore. The Health Minister (Tyler Shandro) is currently hiding because he flipped out over a meme one of his constituents posted regarding a conflict of interest this minister is engaged in. He stomped over to that constituent's house, stood in the driveway, and started screaming at him, in front of his family (scaring the kids), and accusing the constituent of threatening his (Shandro's) wife.

He also threatened several people who emailed him to chastise him about this conflict of interest (Shandro is engaged in defunding/delisting a variety of procedures and services that just happen to be covered by his wife's company, so patients would have to go to her company to get these services).

What Kenney did do the other day was to fire 26,000 support workers in the education system. The schools have been closed for several weeks but the teachers and their assistants have still been there, setting up online classes and figuring out how to work with the learning-disabled kids. The janitors have been there to keep the schools sanitized and to do needed maintenance.

But Kenney figures that because the kids aren't in school, there's no need for substitute teachers (apparently all the regular ones are supposed to be immune to the virus), education assistants (what for, if the kids are at home; don't parents have specialized training in this? ), janitors (what, the teachers still there can't clean, mop, disinfect, and maintain the boilers and electrical systems as well?), and bus drivers. The only people on the list that makes sense to let go are the bus drivers, but the thing is, these people were all promised that they would be paid through the end of the school year (June 30).

Now they're not. And they found out this was going on when the Minister of Education announced it on Twitter and FB... on Saturday. She didn't have the decency to call a press conference and announce it herself, on the news, and take questions. She's been hiding ever since.

This pandemic is a godsend to the UCP, in that they've been able to ram through some legislation in a hurry and because gatherings of more than 15 people (all properly social distanced, of course) are forbidden, there aren't any mass protests going on as there otherwise would be at this point.

Apple has bought a weather app and announced that from now on it'll be exclusive for iPhone users (link). And people wonder why I don't use mobile phones.

The cleaner whom niece I assist (from "kidnapping") ask my wife today, can you please ask your husband because he seems to know lots of thing (while I'm not) my nephew get fired from his company from where he already work there for 2 years, however he haven't got any severance payment already 1 month pass, can you ask your husband what can we do, and how should report this case to the police?

This is a very sad question. First if her nephew is on contract, and the company chose not to prolong the contract after it finished, the company will received no penalty. However if the company ended the contract before it finish, it will be depend on the agreement, usually it is x months times salary. However if the nephew is a permanent worker yes they can ask for severance payment. The sad thing about this is, against an individual like a kidnapper for instance, I may can help them, as it is an individual and not a corporation, and I have lots of friends. But against corporation, even though they wronged her nephew, and during the time like this, case like this will be over-whelming, and it will be so hard to fight the case like this when there is no covid, with covid it will be.. you know..

I just poor her, she got her hope high on me, but there is nothing I can do as a person against an organization or an enterprise. And I think case like will be sky-rocketing after a while.

Rant: Trying to sign up for an online service to grab an API key for some software I use.

The idjits who designed the website managed to hide the mandatory "I agree to terms and conditions" checkbox behind the "create account" button. I was able to get it checked anyways with some inspect element wizardry, only to have the registration fail for seemingly no reason.

Wizardry-censor?

I used 'inspect element' to temporarily hide the button so I could click the checkbox.
