He's something, but forum rules say I can't use that kind of language. Same with the Ministers of Education, Health, and Social Services. There's not a shred of empathy to be found among any of them. And that's before the pandemic. It's worse now.
I have no idea if my rent was paid today because I don't know if my disability benefit was deposited in time. Guess I'll find out if there's a late notice taped to my door tomorrow.
Premier of Alberta. He fired thousands of healthcare workers and then tried to pin the blame on other people.
Kenney is the POS who cheated his way into the position of leader of the United Conservative Party of Alberta (he fired the Election Commissioner investigating this, but it's an open secret that he lied and cheated).
He used to be in the federal cabinet. One of his finer moments was denying a Muslim woman the right to take her Citizenship Oath because she wanted to keep her niqab on. This backfired on Kenney, though - she sued the government, won, and the fallout of this happened during the federal election of 2015. Opinion swung away from the Reformacons, the NDP lost support because the leader upheld her right to wear the niqab, and their Quebec support swung to the Liberals because Justin Trudeau had the good sense to keep his mouth shut about the whole thing.
As for the health care workers... they were about to be fired, but that was put "on pause" because the pandemic came along. Last I heard, they're still going to be fired, but not until they're not desperately needed anymore. The Health Minister (Tyler Shandro) is currently hiding because he flipped out over a meme one of his constituents posted regarding a conflict of interest this minister is engaged in. He stomped over to that constituent's house, stood in the driveway, and started screaming at him, in front of his family (scaring the kids), and accusing the constituent of threatening his (Shandro's) wife.
He also threatened several people who emailed him to chastise him about this conflict of interest (Shandro is engaged in defunding/delisting a variety of procedures and services that just happen to be covered by his wife's company, so patients would have to go to her company to get these services).
What Kenney did do the other day was to fire 26,000 support workers in the education system. The schools have been closed for several weeks but the teachers and their assistants have still been there, setting up online classes and figuring out how to work with the learning-disabled kids. The janitors have been there to keep the schools sanitized and to do needed maintenance.
But Kenney figures that because the kids aren't in school, there's no need for substitute teachers (apparently all the regular ones are supposed to be immune to the virus), education assistants (what for, if the kids are at home; don't parents have specialized training in this?

), janitors (what, the teachers still there can't clean, mop, disinfect, and maintain the boilers and electrical systems as well?), and bus drivers. The only people on the list that makes sense to let go are the bus drivers, but the thing is, these people were all promised that they would be paid through the end of the school year (June 30).
Now they're not. And they found out this was going on when the Minister of Education announced it on Twitter and FB... on Saturday. She didn't have the decency to call a press conference and announce it herself, on the news, and take questions. She's been hiding ever since.
This pandemic is a godsend to the UCP, in that they've been able to ram through some legislation in a hurry and because gatherings of more than 15 people (all properly social distanced, of course) are forbidden, there aren't any mass protests going on as there otherwise would be at this point.
