See this, an old lady on benefits who saved £22k from her benefits:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-58-saved-22k-nest-egg-benefits-pay-back.html

She had to pay most of it as a fine, and got 4 months in jail.

Yes. But you see it wasn't possessing the 22k that was illegal - that would be daft.

Continuing to claim benefits while possessing 22k was illegal.

I'm surprised the woman got a jail sentence for that amount though. And for merely not spending her benefits. Other cases I've heard of have been for much larger amounts and involved people who were actively making money on the side as well as claiming.

I have declared my savings when asked though. I can save £500 a month currently, but then when I get a house I can spend all that on the mortgage. Plus I have an appointment with a disability employment advisor at the end of the month, and I'm allowed to earn another 5k a year.

The amount you can save doesn't affect your entitlement to benefits, rather just the amount you have saved.
I'm really very surprised a mortgage provider would even consider giving you a mortgage if you're claiming benefit. Still, what do I know? I guess a lot of people getting tax credits can still get a mortgage, or even child allowance (so what's the difference?). Always assuming they can find a house in their price range, I suppose.

I have an exam tomorrow which I have not studied for and which I am almost certain to fail. At least I can resit in September. I will possibly spend most of the three hours of the exam reading for my last exam next Tuesday.

No mortgage provider would give me a mortgage. That's why I need a joint mortgage.

And its not my fault the jobcentre is making me wait till the end of the month to help with referrals to the councils job service for disability claimants.

I just got wished "Happy Birthday" from a soap forum where I told the moderators to delete my account (I really, really don't like trollish moderators). When I tested my login the next day to see if they'd complied, it looked like they had... yet why am I getting a birthday greeting from them if I'm no longer a member? :dubious:

Ugh, I just finished writing two 7-8 page essays from scratch in less than 12 hours. It's nice to know that I can still spew convincing BS, but boy does my brain hurt from having to come up with stuff off the top of my head.

And now I have to study a bit for my Econ final tomorrow which I don't have high hopes for since I'm bad at math.

Hey man. You've been through worse. You can make through. :)

"Dial!"
"Ivory!"
"Screw you it's Irish Spring or bust!"

oh, you meant the TV shows.
Yep. Trust me, soap forums can be vicious places, which is why I gave up on them. And there's no discussion allowed of the issues themselves - for example, if a character has some kind of problem that would interesting to discuss on its own terms (ie. bipolar disorder; one of the main characters in General Hospital suffers from that), the mods won't allow it. It's a matter of "discuss the show or shut up."

I don't think I'll do particularly well anyways so I don't think I'll be too disappointed with the outcome. I'm just rather too lazy to skim over the textbook and notes. Being sick for more than a year has only encouraged my lethargic personality. :p

Why does your econ final have math in it?

So I was at the clay pigeon shooting range. They might as well given me blanks for I couldn't hit anything.

My hair is so fluffy and massive that I cannot wear my wide-brimmed hat without looking completely absurd, since my hair reaches out to the edge of the brim.

It's hat or hair, but I like my hair more.

I have those days. ><

How much longer before you can tie it back when it's inconvenient?

I'd rather get it cut than tie it back. Not my sort of thing. It already is getting in my eyes, but I want to see how long I can go with it like this. Maybe another two months.

Rant: Sir Christopher Lee just died. :(

Hat particularly tight that you can't sweep it backwards under the brim? Holding the hair out of my face is the primary benefit of a hat for me, since when I tie the hair back it already keeps my neck from getting fried.

I want to see a photo of yours with your hat on. I like fluffy and massive hair. I also like hats.

/not sure if a rant or a rave:

No more mole!

So they injected it with anaesthetic first which hurt like a , then started prodding at it - 'Do you feel any sharpness?'.

Yes I do.

So they added more anaesthetic and prodded again. I still felt sharpness.

So they added a third round of anaesthetic and I still felt sharpness.

'Go wait outside for 10 mins for it to take effect'.

So I did that. Then I went back in and didnt feel any sharpness.

So they proceeded to chop it off.

I FELT A FREAKING LOT OF SHARPNESS WHEN THEY DID!!!

What did they inject it with? Water?
