Well I tended to think the same, more or less, 'being alive for, say, sixteen years isn't that much more special than being alive for fiteen years and 364 days, is it?' but then I thought I could use an occasion to throw a party and get a lot of friends together.

Same. I'm not going to ignore a day where people ask me what stuff I want and then they give it to me.

My rant is that Italian is pretty damn hard to learn.

im not a particularly depressing person to be with, but im not that cheery either. everything i do tends to be in the middle of the two extremes.

If Italian is hard to learn, you'll struggle with learning any second language that ever existed!

Which is why we should all learn Esperanto.

The good thing about learning Italian is that it opens up for some other languages.

Though Spanish > Italian.

Esperanto is better then French.
And has the dubious distiction of being an actual language designed for real usage, yet has less speakers then Klingon.

Esperanto sounds like Exasperated, as in "I'm exasperated with life and have no more dignity to lose so I might as well learn it".

I already know a decent amount of French... Certainly enough to get by if I ever found myself in France.

If Italian is hard to learn, you'll struggle with learning any second language that ever existed!

Not so much difficult really, just it requires dedication. As I would have expected, it's just more difficult when learning on my own as opposed to a class room.

I made no effort in my Spanish classes and I was still by far the best in the year!

Portuguese isn't that far from Spanish, now is it? If you're bilingual, chances are that you can learn to speak Spanish very easily.

I took out my ashiko and my djembe last night, only to find that the drumhead on my ashiko dried out and it now has a tear in it.

Anyone got a cured goat-skin to spare??

what about french?

Once you know one of the Romance languages the others are much easier to learn.

Personally I always thought Spanish was easier than French.
